Prayer Letter 7th June 2017

Hello everyone,

So many thanks to you for all the amazing work you do. So much not seen by the Public.

PRAISE and PRAYER

You may recall a request for Prayer for a member of staff in Surrey who was to undergo surgery, but he was more concerned about his adult special needs son – C, being unable to see his Dad. Here is an email he sent me this week.

Just come back to hundreds of e/mails. C has been good in my absence and yes further healing is required and thanks for your prayers, they are greatly appreciated.

(Yes, thank you for your Prayers, so good to see how well his son did during this time. Thank You Lord).

  • Continued Prayer please for the ongoing investigations in London overseen by our former ACC Stuart Cundy in Surrey. I continue to be in touch with him.
  • Our Children’s Leader spoke briefly last Sunday on “Identity”. As he did so, I was reminded how much we, who work inside the Police are aware of wearing our ID Badges; – the warning notices we see that we must challenge anyone who is not wearing some form of ID on Police premises.
The Leader went on to speak about our “Identity in Christ” and quoted Rom: 8. 17 “We are Children of God so we are heirs of the Father and joint heirs with the Son.” The famous chorus goes on to say, “We are family we are one”. Again, reference is often made to the Police being a family. In future when I place my ID Lanyard around my neck, I will recall that I have permission to walk inside Police premises, but I will also recall even more so, my true “Identity” in the Lord Jesus Christ.

My daily Prayers are with you in The Met, Surrey and Sussex.

May you know Your Heavenly Father in your lives this coming week as you face your tasks.

Please feel free to contact me by adding a comment below or by clicking here

Many Blessings in His Wonderful Name
Alice.

Today’s exhortation – peace of mind?

I believe phrases like ‘peace of mind’ make it seem like having no trouble means you have peace. It’s more than that, having peace of mind is also being able to go through the storm unperturbed. A visual description of it is when Jesus slept in the boat in the midst of the storm to the point that he had to be woken up by the disciples. We’re told he slept on a pillow. That shows how comfortable He was. I believe that’s the kind of peace the bible says surpasses all understanding. The kind were people look at us and knowing all the trouble and turmoil in our lives and expecting us to crumble; see a person who’s still smiling and praising God.

In order words, the way we are dealing with adversity doesn’t make sense. That’s the kind of peace God gives. That’s why we’re able to say, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms‬ ‭23:4‬). “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8-9‬), In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭37‬). Amen! Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ. (II Corinthians‬ ‭2:14‬)

Today’s exhortation – inner treasure

Let the redeemed of The Lord say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In all things, I am more than a conqueror! I cannot be defeated, I cannot be crushed and I cannot be overcome because I have the spiritual treasure of the power of God in me. No matter what I’m going through or will go through, I will overcome!” This is not a blind statement of faith, this is who we are! How do you think that despite all that you have been through you still find strength to keep going? It’s not been by your might or power, but by The Spirit. It’s the treasure in us, The Holy Spirit who keeps us going. He is, Christ in you, the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27).

It is written, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭4:7-9, 16‬). “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans‬ ‭8:37‬). Hallelujah! Have a blessed week.

Today’s exhortation – second chances

Sometimes when we make a mistake in life it feels so final. When we make a serious mistake we might think its all over for us, but our God is a God of second chances and if we ask Him, He will give us another chance. It’s true that there are consequences to our mistakes but it does not mean we won’t get a second chance. It’s easy to allow ourselves to feel so condemned about our mistakes that we fail to see past them. We must bear in mind that “there’s therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…” (Romans 8:1). And, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬).

The bible’s full of stories of people who were given second chances. Samson was a man who was given a special gift to use to protect his people, but he used it mainly for his self interests and failed to live up to what was expected of him. But when he asked God for a second chance, God gave it to him. We’re told that Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more…” Judges‬ ‭16:28‬). God strengthened him and he did more in his second chance than in his lifetime. (Judges 16:30). God is the same now as He was then and He will do for us what He did for Samson. Amen

Today’s exhortation – healing from pain

Everyone is dealing with pain and some of this pain is deep rooted. Pain from grief, rejection, broken-heart, betrayal, sadness, etc all leave wounds in us that run deep. What’s also true is that we all wear masks to hide our pain. Some may do so by being angry, rude, withdrawn and jokes, but they are all masks. The good news is that The Lord can and wants to heal us but it’s not a quick fix. So, He brings the pain to the surface a little bit at a time as we wouldn’t be able to bear it if He brought it all up at once. The Lord said to His disciples, ““I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.” John‬ ‭16:12-13‬. The Comforter who is also The Spirit, heals and guides us into truth like –

Nothing shall separate us from the love of God in Jesus (Romans 8:38). And nothing means nothing – not even murder, theft, alcoholism, drugs, abortion, adultery, etc “There’s therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1) “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm‬ ‭34:18‬); “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm‬ ‭147:3‬). Amen

Today’s exhortation – God cares

In good times we say, “Praise The Lord, He is good” and in bad times, we say “God where are You? why did You do this to me?” The Lord cares. He cares so much that He even collects our tears. The bible says, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book.” (Psalms‬ ‭56‬:‭8). We know that God is not slack concerning His promises as some count slackness (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in us will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬).

The bible says, Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?…neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35, 38, 39 ). We may not get our prayers answered sometimes, but it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love us. Bad things may happen to us, but it doesn’t mean He doesn’t care and we may grieve Him sometimes due to sin, but He still loves us. Amen
