Today’s exhortation – be in it to win it

The process often never looks like the end, so if you’re struggling with anything in this season of your life, don’t give up, the best is yet to come! Don’t let failure or dejection lead you to take your life. Remember, you’ve to be in it to win it. “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Psalm‬ ‭27:14‬) Tyler Perry, the famous actor and movie director had a rough childhood. He was physically and sexually abused growing up, got kicked out of high school, and tried to commit suicide twice. Once as a preteen and again at 22. At 23 he moved to Atlanta and took up odd jobs as he started working on his stage career. In 1992 he wrote, produced, and starred in his first theater production, ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed.’

Perry put all his savings into the show and it failed miserably; the run lasted just one weekend and only 30 people came to watch. He kept up with the production, working more odd jobs and often slept in his car to get by. Six years later, Perry finally broke through when, on its seventh run, the show became a success. He’s since gone on to have an extremely successful career as a director, writer, and actor. In fact, Perry was named Forbes’ highest paid man in entertainment in 2011 and owns an island. In 2013, he gave a million dollar offering at church…

Today’s exhortation – God’s got it

Monday tends to be a difficult day for some because of the uncertainty of what lies ahead for rest of the week. Some may be worrying about how they will make ends meet during the week and others may be stressed because it’s time to go back to work or to start looking for a job all over again. I’m here to tell you, God does not forsake His own! David testified about this saying, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” Psalm‬ ‭37‬:‭25‬). I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” (Psalm‬ ‭27‬:‭13). You will see God’s goodness this week!

Therefore, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6,7). Note that it says GUARD your hearts and mind. That’s because the circumstances will seek to steal our peace through fear and anxiety but the peace of God will stand as a guard to prevent that. Peace is our weapon of choice this week. We will trust God to come through regardless and that’s our peace. Have a joy end to the week and an amazing weekend. Amen
