Today’s exhortation – life study of Joseph

The bible doesn’t tell us much about Joseph, but we get an idea of he was from his actions and how he dealt with adversity. It’s not what we say that tells people about who we are, but our actions which speak louder than words do! God sent angel Gabriel to deliver messages to Zacharias the father of John the baptist and to Joseph. To Zacharias, Gabriel said: “Do not be afraid, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John … [He will] make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1:13; Luke 1:17). Zacharias’ reaction was one of doubt so God made him mute till the child was born. I believe he was made mute to stop him talking himself out of the miracle. Our words are powerful and we can talk ourselves out of receiving God’s promises!

The bible says, “Life and death is in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21). “You shall decree a thing and it shall be established onto you.” (Job 22:28). On the contrary, Joseph’s reaction to the angel’s message was obedience and faith. He just get on with it. It appears that his strongest qualities were obedience and humility. He obeyed civil decrees, Old Testament laws, and angelic direction without questioning or doubt and so I believe that because he was willing to submit to every legitimate authority, God entrusted him with a significant leadership role. Before anyone can lead, he must learn to first serve!

Today’s exhortation – what a Friend

The shortest verse in the bible is also one of the most empathic verses. It simply says, “Jesus wept.” (John‬ ‭11:35‬). People say He wept because He was sad Lazarus had died but it doesn’t add up because He knew moments later, He will raise Lazarus up. I believe He wept because He felt the pain of the family and the difficulty of what He had allowed them to go through. He knew Lazarus will live again, but they didn’t. He saw them in pain and crying and He was moved to tears Himself. One day, the difficulties of life got on top of me and so I sat down on my bed broke down in tears before God and poured out my heart. I was alone in the room at the time.

Some days later, the moment played in my head again and this time, I saw Jesus sitting next to me with His hands around my shoulders. Tears were running down His face and He appeared to be telling me “I Am here and you are not alone.” At that moment I knew He felt my pain. However He was allowing me to go through the fire for a reason. “There is a friend who sticks closer than brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) and I can testify that The Lord is such a friend. He says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah‬ ‭43:2‬). You’re not alone, The is with you! Amen

Today’s exhortation – “I AM THAT I AM”

Prophet Carn shared on positive confessions and said The Lord said to him recently, “son I want you to teach My people not to use My name in vain and that includes you!” He said to The Lord, “Lord I don’t use Your Name in vain.” The Lord said, “Yes you do.” Then He asked, “What’s My Name?” Brian replied “Jesus!” The Lord replied, “that’s My Name as Saviour! which is Jehovah saves!” Then He said to Brian, “I told Moses My Name” The bible says, “Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”” (‭Exodus‬ ‭3:13-14‬).

Then The Lord said to Brian, “Every time My children say, “I am sick or I am broke, they are using My Name ‘I AM’ in vain!” Therefore, “let the weak say, I am strong.” ‭‭(Joel‬ ‭3:10‬), Let the poor say I am rich! Hallelujah! It is written, “From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things…” (Proverbs‬ ‭13:2‬). “You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.” (Job‬ ‭22:28‬). “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs‬ ‭18:21‬). Amen!

Today’s exhortation – seven mountains

In 1975, Bill Bright and Loren Cunningham, were having lunch together in Colorado when God simultaneously gave each of them a message to give to the other. During that same time frame Francis Schaeffer was given a similar message. That message was that if we’re to impact any nation for Jesus, then we would have to affect the seven spheres, or mountains of society that are the pillars of any society. These mountains are business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family and religion. But there’re many subgroups under these main categories. In essence, God was telling them where the battlefield was. It was here where culture would be won or lost.

I believe you don’t have to be a pastor or preacher to be used by God. He has given everyone gifts and talents that can be used on one of the seven mountains to spread the gospel and minister to people like Joseph. As well as his ability to interpret dreams, he also had administrative skills. It was on the mountain of government that God used him in Egypt. It may also be that the area we’re working in today is where God’s equipping us to effect change for His glory. It is written, “A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.” (Proverbs‬ ‭18:16‬). Amen, have a blessed week.
