Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

I received the following this week from a recipient of the PL. Although written a few weeks ago, God’s Word is always in season.

“At the start of the year, I felt God gave me 3 verses to focus on during the year. ‘Be still and know that I am God’ was one of the verses.

I hurt my back in November and am on restricted duties as a result. It has been a long slow process waiting to get a proper assessment and physio.

I have been feeling particularly discouraged this week. Your prayer letter reminded me of God’s encouragement to me at the start of the year, and was just what I needed to hear.“

“Be still and know that I am God”.

I read the following this week. On Friday when storm Eunice was making herself felt, in many parts of the UK, a Vicar in his large village opened up the doors where his Church met and invited people in. The village was mainly without electricity, but it was still working in the Church building. People came in with their flat mobiles, partook of hot drinks, food and warmth besides feeling good meeting up, with others.

The Vicar was told that the reason people came in was, and I quote: “Because the lights were on”.

“Because the lights were on”

That spoke volumes to me.

It may not be our Church buildings that encourage people to visit. However, Jesus has said about us in Mathew 5: 14 and 16

“You are the light of the world”

I pray that needy people will be drawn to you this coming week, so that you can share the Light that is in you because of Your Saviour.

In Him. His Love

Alice.

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

I trust you are well. Thank you for your on-going Prayers. As you will have seen Dame Lynne Owens is in the Main Media and John Sutherland has recovered well enough to go on a holiday during half term. Continued Prayers for both please.

I often congratulate Officers on their successful work, or send encouragement. You will see me doing that on Twitter; also, via email/face to face. I am so thrilled and proud of the work you do.

I read this week that short term success is easily forgotten but then I went on to read that our lives as Christians, is one great long success. God calls us to a life of different values to the ones that the world sets down.

We read that in Romans 12.1 (The Message version):

Paul says “So this is what I want you to do, God helping you – take your everyday, ordinary life, your sleeping, eating, going to work and walking around life and place it before God – as an offering”.

May you know His Enabling Power as you continue in your Police Work, during what I know are extremely difficult times.

Many Blessings in His Powerful Name,

Alice.

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

Praise The Lord for answered Prayer.

I want to thank you for your Prayers for our former CC Lynne Owens. She has made a remarkable recovery. Please continue to join me in Prayer for her future. I am sure The Lord has a great plan for her to undertake. Lynne requested when I saw her, that I was to pass on her thanks to you for Praying for her. She is truly grateful.

Another person who needs Prayer; is a former Commander in The Met, John Sutherland. A strong Christian who is acknowledged by many people for the work he has done and continues to do. He has just had covid diagnosed. He has told me he really would appreciate our Prayers. He speaks regularly to Police all around the Country. He has commitments he wishes to keep.

Earlier this last week I heard from a recipient of the PL. He wrote, “When trying to support Colleagues, we can have clever answers, but all that we need to do, is be His Disciple as we were encouraged to be in an earlier PL and to be still and let Him do the talking through us”.

In the battles we are all in at the moment, in every area of our lives – Ps:46.10.

“Be still and know that I am God”.

Prayers this week for you all; that as you live In Him, your lives will show His Love to those who are hurting.

Many Blessings and please rest In Him.

Alice.

Prayer Letter from Nick

Hello,

Suddenly a fist connected with my face.  I was about 12 years old and happened to walk past the local bully on our estate as he had been excluded from my school.  In typical bully fashion I didn’t see the punch from behind which resulted in an ABH as my brace ripped through my gums.

The Sgt who came out was a Christian officer and encouraged me to take this formally and see justice done which subsequently happened.  His professional attitude, victim care and doing the right thing inspired me to join up.

Years later the Christian Cop became my own Insp.  Many will know ex Insp Derek Willott.  Today Derek  is with the Lord and a testimony to his work is the Derek Willott award  which is for a Team or group that have engaged with the community to problem solve.

Derek improved my quality of life by being a cop and spiritually by his Christ like attitude towards his work.

Monday is my last day as a full time cop after 30 years and its made me ponder about Christian Leaders like Derek and what eternal testimonies am I building.

Whatever you are doing this shift be inspired that you are doing it for Christ as we serve those we meet.

God’s Peace be with you and thank you for all you do.

Nick

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

I trust that you are well. In the last few days, I have received the following, from a recipient of the Prayer Letter:

“I have recently been struggling with my faith. Well to be more strictly accurate, pretty much ignoring it. However, God must be up to something because I have received messages from Surrey CPA members with their prayers for me. It’s almost like getting a tap on the shoulder from God saying: Despite stumbling, I still love you. Can we get on with the business of being a disciple?”

I found that so refreshing, someone being very honest with where they are; God instigating a few Christians around this person to encourage them and then – to “Hear” from God.

I have discovered that during this Pandemic, people have either grown much closer to God, or have moved away from Him.

This morning, the Hymn “When I survey the Wondrous Cross” crossed my path. The final words –

“Love so amazing, So Divine, Demands my soul, My life, My all”.

Live in the Love of Jesus He has for you this week.

Many Blessings

Alice.

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

Trusting that you are “Walking” well in this New Year, with The Lord alongside you as referred to in last week’s PL.

Today I am sharing with you the life of Paul, not St Paul, but by the time you have read the following, you will I feel, want to call him a Saint.

Paul who is part of the CPA, has worked for Surrey Police for 10 years. Most of that time in the FCR where he has given 12 hours a week, whilst studying for Medical Qualifications in London. He qualified, as he says, “In 2019 ready for a World Pandemic”.

Below is a summary of Paul’s Nursing career:

“I am currently based at a large Teaching Hospital on a Hyperacute Stroke Unit; dealing with patients in the hours and days following a stroke. Some of our patients walk in; many don’t. A lot of them are very unwell with some serious and complex complications. For a few of them, sadly, all we are able to provide is end of life care.

The unit is half my working week. The other half is with the Resuscitation Services team, teaching health care professionals and students how to resuscitate, attending medical emergencies around the hospital, plus an awful lot of audits. During the last major surge (October 2020 – April 2021) I was redeployed to COVID Intensive Care”.

That in itself deserves a round of applause, but 12 hours a week in FCR as well??

This last week Paul left the FCR to give himself a chance to recuperate from his Nursing.

As a group of Sisters and Brothers in The Lord Paul, we want to acknowledge you and Thank You for what you have done in Surrey Police.

Our Prayers go with you Paul as you leave us to continue this amazing work you undertake for those who are suffering.

I am constantly thanking everyone in Surrey Police for their commitment to their work, again I want to do that today and especially to Paul.

Matt 25. 21. “Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Servant”

Many Blessings

Alice
