Prayer Letter 11th May 2018

Hello everyone,

Today as I write, it is the 10th May. It is The National Day of Prayer for Police and the relaunch of our Christian Association  in Surrey Police

Our get together this morning into early afternoon; held at Surrey Police HQ’s, was attended by Surrey, Sussex and Met Police. It was so good to see all the Forces represented who receive the Prayer Letter.

Being the Day of Prayer for Police and this being the Prayer Letter; here is a verse of encouragement as you take on board the reality of the statement, “You are God’s Ambassador”.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by Prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”. Phil: 4. 6.

Please contact me at any time by adding a comment below

May you know Him in your lives in these coming days.

Many Blessings

Alice.

Today’s exhortation – ungodly beliefs

I really pray that God brings us breakthrough and deliverance in the area of ungodly beliefs because it will transform our relationship with Him and our faith in Him. We all to some extent have beliefs in our belief system that are not true. When these beliefs are contrary to God’s truths, they are call them “ungodly beliefs” or (UGBs). In other words, they’re lies about ourselves, others and about God. Unfortunately, this is not good for us because they affect our perceptions, decisions and actions. The following poem by an unknown writer gives a good illustration

Belief System –
If you accept a Belief
You accept a Thought.
If you sow a Thought
You reap an Attitude.
If you sow an Attitude
You reap an Action.
If you sow an Action
You reap a Habit.
If you sow a Habit
You reap a Character.
If you sow a Character
You reap a Destiny.

How we think has an effect on our destiny. For instance, If we think we’ll never get anywhere in life then we won’t. If we think we can’t get out of debt then we won’t. These are UGBs because they do not match up to God’s word for us which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13). The bible says, “be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans‬ ‭12:2‬). Dealing with UGBs is to help us do just that so we can enjoy Christ even more and fall deeper in love with Him. May your day be blessed.

Today’s exhortation – We are Christians.

Names are packed with purpose and are significant to a person’s identity. Being called a Christian holds much power if we get a hold of what that means for us. What we hear has an impact on us because, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17). There’re many occasions when God changed the names of people whom He chose for special purposes. Joshua was one of them. Before Israel inherited the promised land, 12 men including Joshua were chosen to spy it out. However before they left, the bible says, “…Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.” Numbers 13:16). Hoshea who’s name means “Saviour” had his name changed to Joshua which means “God saves.” How’s this significant ?

Out of the 12 men, only 2 believed God could save them and one of these was Joshua. I believe the more he heard the name Joshua, the more he had faith that God saves. So whilst others shook with fear at the sight of giants in the land, he wasn’t afraid of them because he had faith that God Saves. We also have a new name, “Christians!” followers of Christ! As Christians the bible says, “Ye are of God… and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4). It also means, sin shall not have dominion over us nor any bad habit have power of us. It also means I am a child of God and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13).

Today’s exhortation – fix your eyes on Jesus

At the beginning of the day, or the week, or perhaps just in the moments before a specific event or meeting etc it’s easy for us to think “Here I go again…..”  what we must all remember though is it’s “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:8‬). “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬).

Let’s fix our eyes firmly on the Lord Jesus regardless of how we’re feeling or whatever situation we’ll find ourselves in because so long as our eyes are on Him, we’ll find peace and overcome any oppression from stress, fear, anxiety etc. “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭13:14‬). Hope you’re having a blessed week.

Lead Ambassador’s Easter Message

Easter – The beginning of the end

That my God should die for me

I can still remember the exact spot I stood a few years back, when I first heard the words from the Wesley hymn ‘And can it be’ (although it was the slightly more upbeat version by the band Phatfish).  I’d been a Christian for just under ten years by this time.  I understood grace, I was born again and I loved Jesus.  However, when I heard the words ‘That my God should die for me’ they hit me like a hammer, tears rolled down my face.  You see, I knew that Jesus the man had died for me, and believe me, I was grateful, but when it occurred to me that God himself had died for me, I was truly undone.

Mind blowing

Think about it.  The most powerful being that ever was and ever will be, He who can create a universe that we still can’t see the end of, who can create life itself, this ‘person’ dies for you and me.  Not only that, but we scorned Him, we laughed as He died and suffered and turned our backs on Him, spat at His feet (yes, if you have ever sinned then you have done all this).  So not only is he the most important being that has ever been, but we are the most hateful.  Would the Queen give her life to save a virus that was going to make her suffer? Not a great analogy I know, but it’s the closest I can think of.

I’m trying to express the enormity of what happened that first Easter and what happens each time a non-believer surrenders their life to Christ.  Each time I think about it, it leaves me speechless!  I utterly have no adequate response.

Ultimate leadership, ultimate God

I am shortly due to attend my inspector’s public order course.  The last time I attended shield training was at Hounslow about two decades ago!  My memories of the inspectors position in public order training then was somewhere at the back, well away from the action, barking orders at the sergeants, who, in turn, then barked orders at the PCs who themselves had all the bricks and petrol bombs thrown at them.

The Met is short of public order inspectors at the moment, so I volunteered thinking, well at least it won’t be as dangerous as when I was a PC.  Perhaps they even put inspectors in control rooms these days leading via the heli-telly!  Then I got talking to an inspector colleague, who, to my horror, informed me that nowadays, they put inspectors at the front of the serial! (I’m in my 50s, what was I thinking)

But this is like our God.  Easter separates our faith from all others.  In no other religion do their ‘gods’ step down into earth and die for the people they created and love.  This is true leadership, leading from the front at its ultimate extreme.  Not the demanding do, do, do of other religions but the done, done, done of the God of grace.  God not only leads his public order serial from the front, but he tells his PSU to go home and relax, he’ll sort out the riots himself and give his life in the process! Now that’s a God I can truly and freely love!

The apostle Paul sums it up in Romans 5:7-8

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”

Not only death, but life also

As Paul put it, if Jesus never rose from the grave then we (Christians) are of all people to be pitied (1 Corinthians 15:19).  The hope of all those who follow Jesus is pinned to that one act of resurrection. If Jesus didn’t rise from the dead, then we are still in our sins and condemnation rests upon us.

But the truth is that Jesus did rise again! Death was defeated on that first Easter and hope reigns supreme.  And if you have turned to Jesus, all this is yours at no cost to you.  No more striving to keep a demanding law, we have guaranteed eternal life with Jesus.

Rejoice Always

Police officers sadly witness some of the worst depths that humanity can stoop to, and it seems like new depths are being invented daily.  But the truth is that everything, even the worst tragedies, pale into insignificance when you see your life in the perspective of Easter.  This is why Paul commands us to ‘Rejoice Always’ (Philippians 4:4 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

There is no greater event in history, we are now in end times and they are glorious.  So my brothers and sisters, this Easter and every day, Rejoice, I say again rejoice!

If you don’t yet know the joy of surrendering everything to the one who gave it all that first Easter, then ask Jesus into your heart today.  He won’t turn anyone away!

Today’s exhortation – prayer and action!

There’s a proverb which says, “a journey of a thousand steps begins with a single step.” Every human endeavour, even the longest and most difficult ones had a starting point. Maybe you want to start a business or want to further your education or you’ve some issues to address, but have put them off because of the size of the challenge. Why not start today? Sometimes we pray and do nothing with the notion that we’re waiting on God, but He may be waiting on us to move first before He moves! When the Israelites were trapped between the Egyptian army and the read sea, Moses prayed to The Lord and the bible says, “And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” (Exodus‬ ‭14:15-16‬).

God was waiting on Moses and the Israelites to move before He moved. There’s clearly a time for praying and a time for action! That obstacle in front of us won’t move until we move. Our spirit through our gut instinct will let us know if we’re to move or not. Most importantly nothing is too high for us to attain to for the bible says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬). Have a blessed week. Amen
