Today’s exhortation – we’re still children

In life, a child is not responsible for their upkeep or safety and as children of God neither are we. Whilst we’re still His children, we remain His responsibility for certain aspects of our lives. When we were children, we depended on our parents for food, shelter, clothing, pocket money, healthcare, education; discipline; protection etc. That remains the same with us and our Heavenly Father. No matter how old we get, we’ll forever be His children. As children if were being bullied we told our Fathers and that still should still be the case, whether in the work place or in any setting. Most of us believed our fathers were superhuman and could do anything. They weren’t but our Heavenly Father is. He says, “I Am the God of all flesh, is there anything too hard for Me?” Jeremiah 32:27).

The Lord Jesus said, “let the little children come to Me and do not try to stop them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14). Like Jesus did, Our Father rebukes anyone who tries to stop us coming to Him! All those things above that fathers do for their children is what God does for us. If you need protection, go to Daddy, if you need money, ask Him, if you need help doing anything, ask Him. If we believed our fathers will provide, how much more our Heavenly Father? No one can love us better than He can.

Today’s exhortation – children matter

Being a child is not easy, they go through their own struggles, fears and stress like every adult. It’s been a while since some of us were kids but if we cast our minds back, we can recollect how big our problems seemed to us at the time. Passing every exam was like our very lives depended on it. We also felt that because we were kids, sometimes our opinions didn’t matter or God wasn’t as interested in our problems like our parent’s. Nothing can be further from the truth because God is very interested in children’s opinions, problems and future. When the disciples tried to stop children from approaching Jesus, He rebuked them saying, “Let the children come to Me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”” (Matthew‬ ‭19:14‬).

God also uses children. David was a teenager when he was anointed as King. Samuel was still a boy when he became a prophet. Daniel’s friends were teenagers when they refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. They were thrown into the fire for their defiance but Jesus showed up in the fire and delivered them. We’re trying hard to be adults when God wants us to be like kids and have faith like them. Children, you are equally important to God. Jesus cares about your worries, fears and stress. Amen
