Today’s exhortation – it will be alright

We shouldn’t feel embarrassed to admit we are discouraged. Feeling discouraged doesn’t make us weak or losers, it makes us human! It does not matter how strong, righteous, successful or mighty you are, it can happen to you too. In fact everyone goes through it. The bible says, “know that the same afflictions are accomplished in all your brethren that are in the world. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8-9‬). Greater men than us went through their own battles with discouragement. People who did great exploits and accomplished much got discouraged too. Joshua, a righteous man who was a mighty warrior who killed giants went through periods of discouragement. The Lord had to encourage him on more than one occasion.

The Lord said to Joshua, ”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬). There are many things that can cause one to be discouraged. Grief, debt, disappointments, betrayal, depression, bereavement, being taken for granted, financial losses, etc. But through it all, The Lord is saying to us, “They shall not prevail against you. For I Am with you,” says the LORD, “to deliver you.”” Jeremiah‬ ‭1:19‬). Keep your head up and smile. Everything is going to be alright. Amen

Today’s exhortation – the weapons of our warfare

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” (II Corinthians‬ ‭10:4‬). We learnt about some our weapons last week. The name of Jesus; The cross; The Holy Spirit and The blood of Jesus. There are others, the word of God, our testimonies, praise and prayer, but knowing them and knowing we have them alone are not enough! We must use them! We can’t remain silent and expect them to work. We must apply the Blood, we must call out the Name, we must sing out praises and we must call out the word of God against these strongholds. What are strongholds? Places, situations and great problems that appear impossible to defeat or for God to move in.

In every warfare, the opposing army seeks to exploit the weakness of the other army, but in our warfare against the devil and his army, we are told to tear down their strongholds! We are to attack them where they’re strongest and when we claim a territory for God, it’s for keeps! The Lord said to Joshua, “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” (Joshua‬ ‭1:3‬). We mustn’t allow the devil any room into our minds, bodies, homes, schools etc ! Finally brethren, let’s remember that in all these things, we are more than conquerors in Jesus Name! Amen.
