Today’s exhortation – not everyone likes us

Let’s be careful not to fall into the trap of wanting to be liked by everyone because it causes feelings of disappointment and discouragement. We leave ourselves open to depression etc. With the rise in the use of social media, people are developing an insatiable appetite to be liked by everyone and that is dangerous. I read recently that a woman got depressed if a lot of people didn’t like her pictures or posts on Facebook. As Christians it’s imperative to realise that not everyone will like you. The Lord said, “Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.”
‭‭(Luke‬ ‭6:26‬).

Even our Lord Jesus wasn’t liked by everyone. Not everyone in His own family thought much of Him. He was rejected by His people, rejected in His own town, in the temple and in the synagogues. Why then will everyone like us? At one point, He said to them “you seek Me not because of the signs? But because I fed you food.” John 6:26). Don’t get caught up in the praises of men because at any given moment they can change. We see that in the press all the time. The only person we should be seeking to please and receive praise from at all times is The Lord. The bible says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” Colossians‬ ‭3:23‬). Amen

Prayer Letter 3rd February 2017

Hello everyone,

I trust you are all well.
It was good to receive messages from you following last week’s PL. Thank you.

Prayer needs.

  • A former member of Staff has requested that we join him to Pray for his Grandson J, aged 11. When J was born he needed an immediate major heart operation. Medics said that a further operation would take place in his late teens. Sadly due to the health of J. he has had to have major work done on his heart during this last week. It was a 6 hour operation, with far more work for the Surgeon to do than he was anticipating. J’s heart has not started to beat correctly yet. A young lad of 11, does not wish to stay in bed and certainly does not want to undertake a number of weeks recovering. Grandad would appreciate your Prayers please.
  • Continued Prayer for a number of people of whom I am aware on restricted hours. Also people feeling under pressure for various reasons; including home situations.
  • Prayer for the Met Police Commissioner has he prepares to retire.

When I wake in the morning, I am very selfish. My first request in Prayer to the Lord is that He will bless me, so that I can be a blessing to others during the day. Sometimes I can see that the Lord has answered that Prayer. Other days I am not so sure.
On one particular morning, a Mum was asked by her little boy for a picnic lunch. He wanted to go and listen to the man called Jesus who was speaking to many people in the area. Mum placed together his lunch and out the little boy went, clutching his food.
He found himself close to Jesus. He noticed that Jesus’s friends seemed to be very interested in his lunch he was about to eat. He heard them say-

“There’s a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But that’s a drop in the bucket for a crowd like this.” John 6.9.

The rest of the story is known as one of Jesus’ miracles. I am sure the little boy’s Mum would never have known how many people she would feed that day. If we make ourselves available to the Lord on a regular basis asking for His Blessings, the possibilities are beyond imagination. May you go in Him and do way above what you thought you could do, or be.

As ever my Prayers are with you. My thanks too. I admire your perseverance and persistence.

If you wish to make contact with me please do so by adding a comment below, or by clicking here. I love to hear from you

In Him
Alice.
