Prayer Letter 23rd Nov 2018

Hello Everyone,

A lot of happenings around us tells us that Christmas is coming. I am sure that you and your families are looking forward to a time in your Churches singing Christmas Carols. I am enjoying rehearsing our Choir and Instrumentalists ready for our Carol Services.

  • I welcomed a new Reader to the PL three weeks ago. A brand-new Officer in Surrey Police. Sadly, a car accident has taken place, not our Reader’s fault on the M25 on their way home, very painful back, neck and shoulders. Awaiting treatment for these injuries. Also, the car is sick! Grateful to Colleagues who have shown much love and care. Still managing to get to work. Prayers for full healing please.

A few weeks ago, we were remembering the end of the First World War. This year being a special time; being the Hundredth Anniversary. The plaques recalling the names of Members of our Church that I attend were on our platform during our Services on that Remembrance Sunday.

Our Pastor spoke about the lives of some of those mentioned. “Held a Bible Study regularly in his home”. “Was the Church Organist”.

Our Youth Worker was asked to take the main speaking section as we had our children and young people in the Service. He told the story of Lazarus, and homed in on the words “Jesus wept” John 11.35. Even Jesus cried at the death of His friend, even though He knew Lazarus would walk out of the tomb in a very short time. He wanted His friends around Him to see that He could feel for them and have compassion on them.

He is that same Jesus today for each one of us. He understands just where we are right now in every area of our lives.

Please be assured of my Prayers for you all as you go about your work; looking after us the Public in The Met Police, Surrey and Sussex; as well as in your home lives where you have family and friends.

Today’s exhortation – what a Friend

The shortest verse in the bible is also one of the most empathic verses. It simply says, “Jesus wept.” (John‬ ‭11:35‬). People say He wept because He was sad Lazarus had died but it doesn’t add up because He knew moments later, He will raise Lazarus up. I believe He wept because He felt the pain of the family and the difficulty of what He had allowed them to go through. He knew Lazarus will live again, but they didn’t. He saw them in pain and crying and He was moved to tears Himself. One day, the difficulties of life got on top of me and so I sat down on my bed broke down in tears before God and poured out my heart. I was alone in the room at the time.

Some days later, the moment played in my head again and this time, I saw Jesus sitting next to me with His hands around my shoulders. Tears were running down His face and He appeared to be telling me “I Am here and you are not alone.” At that moment I knew He felt my pain. However He was allowing me to go through the fire for a reason. “There is a friend who sticks closer than brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) and I can testify that The Lord is such a friend. He says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah‬ ‭43:2‬). You’re not alone, The is with you! Amen
