Today’s exhortation – biblical healing of ungodly beliefs (UGBs)

The first thing we must always remember about ourselves is that God loves us and wants nothing but the best for us. However the best for us is to be like Christ and so part of God’s plan is to transform us into the image of His Son. In order to be transformed into the image of Christ, our thinking has to change so it lines up with God’s truth and not the facts of our experiences. Facts in our lives are those undeniable situations that are present now or have happened. But there is a higher truth which is God’s truth! His truth is what His word says about the situation we may be in. The thing about God’s truth is that it’s not seen by the natural man who is looking at the facts, but the spiritual man who is not looking at the facts, but at God’s power to change the situation.

Eg. In the miracle of feeding 5000 people with five loaves and two fishes, the disciples saw only five loaves and two fishes and said it wasn’t enough. Jesus saw it and said it was enough. They saw facts but Jesus saw the power of God to use the little to do great things. Here are some typical UGBs most of us have –
A) Rejection- I don’t belong; I’ll always be lonely; the best way to avoid hurt is to be by myself; no one will love me, just myself.
B) Unworthiness, Guilt & Shame – I’m not worthy to receive anything from God; I’m a bad person; I’m the problem;
C) Others – my best years are behind me; I’ll always have financial problems; I messed up my life; I’ll always be insecure, shy, fearful; I’m all alone; God loves others more than me; God only loves me when I do right; I can never love again.
Please pray and ask God to show you other areas in your life you carry ungodly beliefs and list them. We’ll pray tomorrow.

Today’s exhortation – ungodly beliefs (inner healing cont.)

We have come to an area of inner healing that completely transformed my life which is ‘ungodly beliefs.’ For a long time, I was so scared of God and so all my actions were based on fear of being punished. My mindset was that God was looking to punish me for every wrong and so when I did sin, I was too afraid to pray because I knew the chances of doing the same thing again was high so I avoided praying. I just felt I had to sort my life out before I could ask for anything. My belief of God made Him unapproachable. All lies about the One who is Love! By His grace, I had the opportunity to do an inner healing course called “restoring the foundations.” And I got to know about ungodly beliefs which are basically beliefs that are untrue and unjustified about God.

An example is “I am a sinner and so God can’t love me.” I was so wrong! I didn’t know He loved me unconditionally! I didn’t know about God’s grace and mercy and that His perfect love casts out fear! I didn’t know that everything Jesus did in the bible was The Father Himself at work. He was The One children loved being around and will follow Him everywhere. He was The One who told the people accusing the adulterous woman, “He who is without sin let him cast the first stone.” Oh how such love and mercy. Don’t ever think God doesn’t care about you. That’s an ungodly belief! He loves you more than you’ll ever know and when Jesus’ arms where stretched on the cross, The Father arms where wide open saying “come as you are, I love you just the way you are.” Amen

Today’s exhortation – inner healing cont..

I’m aware that recent exhortations have been deep. However I believe it’s because The Lord wants to do a deeper work in us. I also believe what The Lord is doing is getting rid of the root instead of the leaves. E.g. I had a friend who suffered from severe back ache and the root of it was anxiety. Unless the anxiety was dealt with, the back ache would’ve come back even if it had been physically healed. Similarly, we may ask to God to heal us from something, but if He heals us, that condition may come back because the root hasn’t been dealt with. This root may be a soul hurt, generational sin or resulting curses, ungodly beliefs or demonic oppression. All these areas are connected.

Take an alcoholic and think of the number of hurts caused by them. Usually the immediate family and friends get affected. They do anything to fund their habits, by lying and stealing from family and friends. The trail of hurt, disappointment or shame left behind can run deep. The resulting curses can be alienation, destruction or death that causes major hurt to all involved. It becomes a vicious cycle as their kids grow up to repeat the same mistake. Jesus’ work on the cross is so powerful and has made a way for us to be completely free. We’ve not even scratched the surface of all the benefits available to us through Jesus. May He make known to us the hidden treasures in His redemption so we may receive them. Amen

Today’s exhortation – the greatest gift

Birthdays and Christmas are not the only time for exchanging gifts, the greatest gift of all is this, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John‬ ‭3:16‬). In the lead up to Christmas 2015, I visited an elderly man and when he came to open the door, he was hobbling badly on a walking stick. As we spoke, it became apparent that he was lonely and without hope so I asked him if he believed in God and he said “no, because if there was a God He won’t allow bad things to happen.” I thought whether this man believes in God or not, it is my belief that it’s the will of God that he be healed. As the bible says, it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. (Romans 2:4)

I asked him if he would like me to pray for God to heal him and to my surprise he said yes. I knelt down and prayed for God to heal him. After praying, I asked him to have walk around to see if he was healed. He did and said his legs felt stronger than before. I prayed again and though he wasn’t completely healed, he was better than before. I pointed out to him that the God he didn’t believe in was responsible for what he was experiencing and then asked him if he would like to invite Jesus into his heart and he said yes and gave his life to The Lord. The greatest gift of all, is for everyday, so share about Jesus today. Amen
