Today’s exhortation – soul hurts

Every year, a lot of us make resolutions to detox our bodies and to bring them into a healthy state. What we must also resolve to do, is to do the same to our souls. Just as our bodies have health conditions, our souls do too. The bible indicates that in this verse, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John‬ ‭1:2‬). It’s The Lord’s will that both our souls and bodies are in good health so over the course of the next couple of weeks, we’ll learn how to make our souls healthy and learn some foundational teachings on inner healing. There are many areas but we’ll begin with soul hurt which is some type of emotional or spiritual wound that we received based on somebody else’s words, actions, neglect or rejection which causes emotional, physical or spiritual trauma.

E.g.s of situations that cause these are, death of a loved one, divorce, abortion, failures, abuse(physical, verbal, emotional, sexual), war memories, childlessness, job loss etc. A scripture relating to the healing of our soul/spirit hurts is, “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” (Psalm‬ ‭147:3‬). The Lord Jesus’ ministry was also for the purpose of healing of our souls. He said, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” (Isaiah‬ ‭61:1‬). To be cont….

Today’s exhortation – persevering in prayer

In the following parable, The Lord Jesus Christ illustrated the necessity of persevering when prayer is not answered immediately. The bible says, “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily…” (Luke‬ ‭18:1-8). Knowing this, we’re not to lose heart when prayers are not answered immediately. We’re not to give in to discouragement, fear, doubt, unbelief or use excuses for unbelief. We must resist and rebuke all suggestions of failure. We must ask ourselves, is it God’s will to heal or that we prosper? If the answer is ‘yes’ which it is, then we must not give up asking. It is written, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John‬ ‭1:2‬). Amen

Today’s exhortation – God bless you!

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John‬ ‭1:2‬). I pray that God prospers you like He did Joseph and caused him to forget all his troubles so that he was fruitful. I believe that we can’t fully enjoy God’s blessings unless we are walking in forgiveness and we see that in Joseph’s life. After he was promoted, he got married and had two sons. He named his oldest Manasseh, which means, “making to forget.” Because God had caused him to forget all his sufferings at the hand of his brothers. The younger son he named Ephraim, which means “fruitfulness.” God had caused him to be fruitful in the land of his affliction.

The emotional healing came before the fruitfulness. Without inner healing, physical prosperity cannot be enjoyed. Had The Lord not done this for him, he would’ve still been in prison to his hurt and pain. We also see that it was God who made him forget his pain. Forgiving and forgetting are not things that can be achieved by human effort alone. It is God who makes it happen. Perhaps the reason why we struggle to forgive is because we’re trying to do it in our own strength. I pray that God makes you forget all your hurt and pain and heals the wounds in your soul so that you can become fruitful and enjoy the goodness of The Lord in Jesus name. Amen
