Today’s exhortation – you can do it

There are many wonderful inventions we enjoy today that were born from the womb of perseverance. Their inventors refused to give up and overcame many failures to become successful. Today we get to enjoy the use of the common light bulb, but that invention didn’t come easy. The inventor Thomas Edison had to overcome much and if fact he was considered a master of “trial and error.” When asked about the many thousands of failures he had when trying to create the light-bulb he famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”  But there is even more to it than that.  As a child he was thought to be dumb and told that he would never be a success by many of his teachers, because his mind would often wander in class. Does that sound familiar?

These days, Edison is celebrated as one of the greatest inventors in history. It’s a good thing he didn’t give up or listen to all the negativity. We mustn’t be afraid to make fools of ourselves in pursuit of our dreams and visions because after all, some of yesterday’s fools are today’s heroes. A lack of success may not mean that’s not our calling, it may mean that we just have to try harder! Many will give up, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭15:7‬). Amen

Today’s exhortation – Carpe Diem!

Many of us have dreams, visions and aspirations but have been procrastinating. This may be due to reasons such as fear of failure, lack of funds, motivation or honestly speaking laziness! The Lord impressed on me that those ideas, dreams, visions or ideas are seeds and unless we plant them, they may remain a seed! The life of the plant is in the seed and unless it’s planted, it won’t bear fruit! Sometimes we want handouts when He wants to give us an abundance which is in the seed! And if we don’t plant these seeds, they will be given to someone else to plant them. How many times have we sat on our ideas until it’s too late? We had an idea to do something but put it off until one day we turned on the TV and saw someone had developed it and made it successful!

Before Abraham was called by God to leave his people and go to Canaan, his father Terah was called but he didn’t go (Genesis 11:32-33). So God called Abraham and he went and went on to become the father or many nations. It’s time to step out and make our dreams and ideas happen before someone else does! However, we’ve to remember that seed to harvest is a process! It may not be instant or easy, “But you must remain strong and not become discouraged. Your actions will be rewarded.” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭15:7‬). Carpe Diem! Amen.
