With Alice still away taking a well-earned break from sending the prayer letter, I am guesting as the writer this week. For those you don’t know me, I am a Crime Reduction Advisor with Surrey Police Western Division.
It was with a chill that I recently read a email from the Surrey Police Federation, that they had registered with the Trussell Trust to provide vouchers to officers and staff for food banks. This really brought home to me the current economic situation and how we will all face some financial challenges in the coming months. Also that we may have colleagues who are facing real need. I am drawn to the following passage from Isaiah 41.13:
I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
We pray for our friends and colleagues and ourselves at this time. We know we can look to you for help and we pray that we might be that help to others, when they are in need. Make us sensitive to the worries and needs of our colleagues as they juggle the pressures of work with the financial situation.
We know that we do not need to fear, and you will help us, as we look to you and, depend on you.
We ask this in Jesus’ name
