Prayer Letter from Bert

Good morning,

I’ve taken the baton this week from Alice and pray that this may encourage you…

I had the great joy of being at the Keswick Convention last week in the beautiful Lake District. The Convention there has been held for over 100 years. It is a free convention held over 3 weeks with amazing speakers, music and content (more info here). The theme of the Convention this year is ‘Human’ and most of the content is available on YouTube (here)

Sam Allberry was teaching through 1 John in the morning bible teach and it was in the second session that I heard this from 1 John 2:12-14

Sam taught about who the little children, fathers and young men are. He added towards the end…

As you look ahead there will be battles but the battle has been won. The armour of God (Eph 6) is known to us, we ready ourselves for spiritual battle but it’s not new armour, it is pre worn – in Isaiah we see that the Lord’s servant has already worn it. It’s scuffed, bloodied… There are bits of serpent on it. This is Christ’s armour- he has already won the victory. John says you have overcome the evil one. You are strong, not in yourself but in Him.

May the Lord bless you. Know that you are his and that he has won the battle. Take time to pray – rely on His strength. There is a lot to pray for:

  • Senior leaders across our forces for wisdom and direction
  • All staff who are wrestling with the cost of living and lacking in hope
  • That we may be bold to live for Christ and to give an answer for the hope that we have

Every blessing,
