This last Sunday a Commissioning Service was held for existing and newly appointed Woking Street Angels. I was asked if I would suggest someone from Surrey Police to attend, to Commission the Angels and speak at the end of the Service. Yes, I could – Insp Chris Hampshire. I have known Chris for many years through the CPA and more recently by his being in the FCR which I visit as a Chaplain. He is very aware of the work that Street Angels undertake as he sees them on duty in Guildford. A real winner all round!
He shared with us that when on Response Duty, he would not only put on his Police Uniform, he would also “Put On” The Armour of God. He encouraged us that we should choose to do this every day whether wearing a Street Angel Jacket or in normal activities in our lives.
An essential reminder for all of us. Eph 6. 10 – 18.
Stand firm then, with the Belt of Truth buckled around your waist,
The Breastplate of Righteousness in place,
Your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace.
Take up the Shield of Faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.
