I continue to be surprised at my ripe old age; when I notice something new in a very well-known Bible Story. Take the following from Acts 16 v16–40
After Paul and Silas had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison. The jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.
This was described as a violent earthquake, but all that happened was their chains became loose and the doors flew open.
What more did they need?
That so speaks to me of God being the God of the specifics. No walls coming down and injuring them or other prisoners – just their freedom.
Please may I encourage you this week to trust God to specifically work out for you those things of which you are in need.
God Loves You.
