Prayer Letter 4th Jan/19

Hello Everyone,

A Very Happy New Year to you all. I Pray that, for you in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

I know many of you will have been on duty during the Christmas period and more recently the New Year. Thank You! I do however trust that you have had precious time with your family and friends. Personally, I know how special such time is with family; having a Daughter who lives in The States and was able to spend five days with me here in the UK, over Christmas.

Continued Prayer for our Force Chaplain please, Patrick Samuels. He is undergoing further treatment following a heart attack before Christmas.

During last year we started to Pray for Paul, an Officer in Sussex. He is, as I shared with you, Cancer free and is able to return to work. However, in the last few weeks, he has a health issue as a kick back from his treatment that needs to be dealt with, before he can take this step. Please, continued Prayer for him.

I have been in regular contact with Paul during this time of illness. I am leaving with you below; part of an email he sent me (with his permission). He was replying to my email at the time.

Hi Alice
Thank you for your words which mean a lot to me at this time. I’ve been reading Psalm 23 again and the words – that God wants to put us in green pastures to restore our souls etc. I just feel that God has been saying to me just stop and rest and draw close to me and get to know me so your words of “Be still and know that I am God” really spoke to me.
Paul

Surely, I should be writing about being up and being active, after all, it is the beginning of a New Year. But no. I am reminded of John Sutherland’s comment, (He was a former Commander in The London Met), “If the oxygen masks come down in the aircraft in which you are travelling due to an emergency and you have your young daughter alongside you, you do not do what comes naturally – place her mask on first, you place your mask on and then tend to her needs”. John is a great encourager in “God’s Oxygen”.

I am therefore encouraging you as I do myself to take time out to “Rest in Him”, then you and I will be able to cope with those around us who need us.

Please feel free to contact me at any time using the form below.

Many Blessings during 2019

Alice.

Prayer Letter 20th July 2018

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the responses to last week’s Prayer Letter.

For Prayer

  • Police Officers/Staff dealing with death in their family. Handling the trauma and sadness.
  • We are at that time of year again when Christian Youth Camps are being held, such as Newday, 7,000 young people expected.
  • A few weeks ago, I asked for Prayer for an Officer with Cancer. Here is the latest update. “The PC has requested that he will remain in the prayer letter. It has been confirmed that the cancer has spread and that he will have to undergo specialist chemo therapy all the way through to October. He has to travel a long way for the treatment. He and his family are certainly undergoing a really rough time”.
  • General health of all Officers and Staff under great pressure.
  • Request for Prayer from an Officer who has very young foreign exchange children staying in his family home at the moment. That they will experience the love of a Christian family around them

Last Friday I went as a Chaplain to be with the Police who were stationed in Windsor, overseeing the security of the visit of President Trump.

I spoke to Officers from Devon and Cornwall, Wales, North Yorkshire, Hampshire, Cumbria and Surrey. I chatted with the dog handler who with PD Betsy checked Blenheim Palace and Windsor Castle.

When I arrived early afternoon, these men and women had been on duty since 3am. I was truly impressed and again saw the hard work carried out by our Police. Thank You!

On my return home I thought about these Officers, who for some were far from home and indeed had long journeys to face the following day. I was reminded of the following verse –

Psalm 139:7-12

Where can I flee from your presence?
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.

We are coming up to holiday times, hopefully many of you will be planning to be away with your families. Have a wonderful time and take with you the truth of the above Word from The Lord.

Please feel free to get in touch with me at any time by adding a comment below or by clicking here

May you know the Lord’s Hand upon you at this time of relaxation and travel.

In Him

Alice.

Prayer Letter 1st June 2018

Today I am the guest writer for the weekly Prayer Letter. For those who don’t know I have recently taken on the role of Deputy Secretary of Surrey’s CPA having been on the fringe of Surrey’s CPA for some time and have been a cop for 17 years!

As I glance back over my time in Surrey Police I have been through many challenges and seen numerous changes but there is one thing that hasn’t changed – God’s faithfulness in fulfilling his promising and knowing what is best for me.

Being a Christian is challenging (in the police and outside) but I have been encouraged and reminded by a number of key bible verses that I should be willing to show my faith in action and declare my love for Christ when the opportunities are there. Not that this is what saves me but is something I want to do in response to being saved through Christ.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)

And

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:16 (ESV)

Can I encourage you to be bold for the gospel and the name of Christ?

I will be praying for us that we will be.

Areas for Prayer:

  • Thank God for the Big Church Day Out in Sussex. A number of officers & staff from Surrey, Sussex and the Metropolitan Police attended the Big Church Day Out. Thanks to all involved and appears that a great (busy) time had by all!
  • Pray for those officers going through Promotion Process (Sergeant & Inspector): a stressful time for all!
  • Thank God for Alice (I’m sure you already do and I can imagine what she’ll say to me for writing this!) for her faithful service to us all.

If you wish to forward prayer requests please do!

Every blessing in Christ.

Prayer Letter 20th April 2018

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your comeback to last week’s Prayer Letter.

I received a message; after a number of weeks of lack of sleep at night, due to illness with the children in the family, Mum and Dad had at last experienced sleep through the night. “Thank You Lord”. Please continue to Pray for a number of children in the Police Family at large who are far from well and have in some cases long term problems with their health.

With the speed of life both inside and outside the Police which I have come across recently, I have found myself Praying this over various friends, or sharing in an email.

The Lord says, ‘Rest in My Green Pastures, wander alongside My Still Waters, because I want to restore your soul and it is for My Name’s sake”. Ps 23.

This is so vital for all of us in this stressful world today. And the Lord wants to do it for us.

Please make contact with me if you wish to do so by clicking here or by adding a comment below

My Prayer for you this week, is to know Peace in Him, in amongst the stresses of your daily life.

Love to you in The Lord

Alice.

Easter

Yesterday afternoon and evening I had the great pleasure to be invited to attend the Greater London Assembly & Transport for London Easter service at City Hall, I’ve been to City Hall a few times but never for a Christian Celebration and it was a wonderful event, People of all different backgrounds, race, gender, believers and non-believers all in one place, all taking part and all loving each other as described to us in Holy orders from the Bible to “Love One another”.

I had the wonderful pleasure of hearing Rev’d Canon Les Isacc speak a word on Easter and it stirred the soul, a wonderful speaker who has a real love for life, people and God.

When I got home I wanted to know more about the man who had struck such a cord for me and I stumbled across his Easter message on the web-site www.Keepthefaith.co.uk

The post asks some wonderful questions and to take a few snipits “What does Easter mean to Christians? Love, hope, suffering, death, life, resurrection?”

It got me thinking what does Easter mean to me? as I heard yesterday its not about the eggs, the days off, the overindulgence or the Hot Cross Buns (I am partial to a Hot Cross bun and maybe a cho0clate egg I must admit) it’s about the sacrifice that Jesus made so that we can be forgiven, so we can come to God through Jesus Christ when it is our time to enter the gates of heaven, as I was told yesterday and I think of friends of mine from Policing and from the Military “You wouldn’t forget the person who jumps infront of a bullet for you, so why have you forgotten Christ?”.

God gave up his only son for us, he paid the ultimate debt and many have forgotten that, I can say I know I haven’t, I know Jesus paid a price for me, I rejoice in that fact and praise God that I am able to come to him in prayer, praise and worship and that he will protect us as his flock, he will guide us and feed us, as we know “Man cannot live of bread alone” and his wonderful word feeds us daily, gives us the strength to carry on and brings people into our lives who are able to help us and achieve his goals, I thank God for this wonderful blessing, I thank God for the people he has brought into my life, I thank God for the price that has been paid that I have been saved and I thank God for each of you reading this now, I hope it strikes a cord, I hope it lights that flame for you and I hope you have a wonderful Easter and that you will be blessed by the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Letter 16th March/18

Hello everyone.

Thank you for the comebacks from last week’s Prayer Letter.

  • I have received a request for Prayer from a Member of Sussex Police. Prayer please for a department where a Colleague has died. Also, family and friends of the deceased.
  • I have over the last two weeks been the “Stranger” in a Stranger/Danger scenario, where school children are encouraged, by me -a total Stranger to them, to come with me. Prayer please for the safety of all our children in this world today.

As last week’s PL went out, I discovered it was International Women’s Day. I saw the following on Twitter, written by Nicky Gumbel.

2000 years ago, Jesus repeatedly liberated and affirmed women- treating men and women as equals. Women were the last at the cross and the first at the tomb – the first to be entrusted with the news of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Yesterday I met a member of Sussex Police who explained to me, “That in those days, women couldn’t be witnesses and had no legal authority in court.

If someone made up the account of Jesus’ resurrection, they would have definitely used men in their story to make it more credible at the time. The fact that women had these roles can make us more certain that this wasn’t made up but is accurate and true history”.

“God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, He created them; male and female He created them”. Gen: 1.27.

I pray that you will live in the good this coming week, of knowing you are created in the image of Your Heavenly Father.

If you wish to contact me, please do so by clicking here, or adding a comment below.

Many Blessings

In His Name

Alice.
