“London estates are the forgotten London, the bypassed, overlooked and ignored London. Except to Jesus Christ. To him they are the places where God is specially present, the object of an extraordinary love, and the focus for justice and hope.
This 24-7 prayer week will look to remember the forgotten, cross over to those often passed by, and turn our full attention to those usually ignored.
I commend this week to you and hope that you will commit to pray for the estates of London. In doing so we will, of course, discover that the Lord is there before us, calling us to join him”

Archbishop of Canterbury meets with Christian Police

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby with the Christian Family in the Met.ABC NSY

We were recently blessed by a visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. He reached out to us wishing to learn more about our experiences as Christians in the Police Service. The discussion at New Scotland Yard led to Chris Heflin-Scott being invited to Lambeth Palace for further prayer and discussion with the Archbishop. Two other officers were also invited to the palace to receive prayer. He wanted to learn more about our experiences as Christians in the Police Service. LCPF Ambassador Sgt Dave Turtle also engaged with him when they met shortly afterwards daveturtleABC at the Cinnamon Faith Audit held at the Emmanuel Centre.

Throughout our meetings with the Archbishop a number of topics were discussed including prayer, peace, and tackling poverty. We also discussed how we as a family in the Met can be better supported, and how we can help the Met to integrate more fully with the communities of London.

Please give thanks to God for this new relationship with the Archbishop and his staff at Lambeth Palace. Please do pray that this new connection with Justin Welby will be fruitful, and please pray for him as he leads the Church of England and the world-wide Anglican communion.
