Issue 1059 Sept 2019

If you had any doubt about the dangerous role that YOUR Police officers carry out every day, here are just some of the serious incidents where officers have been injured, murdered or targeted for murder and serious injury. These incidents are just from August 2019. These officers were carrying out their duties in support of protecting our communities.

A recent survey carried out for Channel 4’s Dispatches programme identified that nearly 80 percent of the 1,000 officers surveyed said they had been assaulted at least once in the last 12 months.

We are humbled by the bravery of all police officers and staff across the UK. They put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities. We hold all of them (and their loved ones) in our prayers. Please join us and Pray for your Police, every day!!!

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello Everyone,

I trust you are all well.

I am starting this PL on a personal note. I want to give “Thanks to the Lord” for allowing me to be part of Surrey Police for 25 years as a Volunteer. The last 13 years; being part of the CPA; having the immense privilege of being allowed to write the Prayer Letter. However, for a number of years before, I also met with Officers and Staff in various Prayer Meetings and other get togethers. More recently a Chaplain as well.

Some months ago, I told you that one of our Surrey Officers was undergoing surgery. Following this, the Officer was again admitted twice to hospital due to complications. I have heard this last week the Officer has now returned to work and all is well. Thank You Lord for answering our Prayers.

On Sunday the person who spoke during our Morning Meeting was a former Pastor with us. He left and planted a Church in Texas. It was good to hear him on Sunday. He spoke on the following verses from Isaiah 55 1-3:

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labour on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live”.

How wonderful for us, that we know The Lord. Please may I encourage you to meditate on these words above. I have heard them many times, but on Sunday they spoke to my heart. May that be so for you.

God Bless you and keep you and may you know His Fullness for you.

Prayer Letter from Alice

I have for a number of years taken an interest in Twitter. I have been able to follow the lives of many Police Officers around the UK. One Officer I have followed from Sussex; has, over the last few days started to share Bible verses. These writings have really encouraged me, so I am going to place two of them here for this week’s Bible Slot.

His profile verse is Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by Grace you have been saved – by Faith and this is not from yourselves. It is a Gift from God”.

The Lord says in Psalm 91:14-16

“I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honour them.
I will reward them with a long life and give them My Salvation”

A reader on Twitter replied to the above verses from Psalm 91

“He promises to rescue me, protect me, be with me, honour me, reward me, and give me Salvation. We are so undeserving of God’s Goodness!”

May you know the working of God’s Goodness in your life this week.

Prayer Letter from Alice

Hello everyone,

I trust you are well.

Hopefully as I write, you have been, are, or will soon be on holiday. I am aware how important holidays are.

When I sent the PL last Thursday to Bert; for him  to send out to the CPA, I wrote the following in my covering email, “I felt very inspired when I heard our Youth Leader speak last Sunday on “God values us”; but when writing the PL today I didn’t quite feel the same. I need to leave it with the Lord”.

In his very gracious manner, Bert came back encouraging me, that it would be a Blessing.

Little did either of us know at that moment what news we would be waking to on Friday morning last week as the PL landed in everyone’s Mail Box. The murder of PC Andrew Harper.

As the story unfolded of his recent Marriage and his impending Honeymoon, sadness just grew for such an horrendous happening the night before.

This has brought to the fore how much Police are valued in our Country.

God values you, not only as I described last week in the PL; but He spells it out   by asking us that we Pray for people such as yourselves in His Word.

1 Tim 2 1-3. “I urge then first of all, that requests, prayers and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for Kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all Godliness and Holiness. This is good and pleases God Our Saviour”.

These verses have written alongside them in my Bible “Prayer for CPA”.

I want at this point to say how much I value each one of you, how much more does He Your Heavenly Father value you?   What a privilege is mine to be allowed to serve you as a Volunteer.

Finally, a Massive Thank You for all that you are and do alongside your Colleagues to bring His Peace into the areas in which you serve, The London Met, Surrey and Sussex.

God Bless you and keep you.

Prayer letter from Alice

Hello everyone,

I trust you are well.

I was recently asked for an update on Precious our 3-year-old little girl, Daughter of PCSO Colin Gibbons. On Saturday last I met her and her parents. She was remarkably bright, but had that morning been in hospital for a blood transfusion. Please continue to Pray for Precious and her family. Constant care for her is upper most in their lives.

Last Sunday, our Youth Leader asked us, “What is the greatest boast of all times?”. I knew I was in Church, but my mind immediately went to the secular world and decided that “We have been to the moon” would be my answer to his question. But no, sadly that was wrong.

The greatest boast of all times was when Jesus said in John 10. 10-11, “I have come that you may have life. The Good Shepherd lays down His Life for His Sheep”.

Our Youth Leader went on to point out “God values us”.

When he said that, I knew I needed to share that statement with you. I know from my walking alongside so many of you; that there are times you feel undervalued. Please may I encourage you that “God Values You”.

That statement also spoke to me at the time, I was so weary and exhausted following my time working at Newday, I had shown no enthusiasm during the Worship earlier in the Service, but then being reminded that God valued me, made me realise that I was special in His Eyes. He knew how I felt, also He has chosen me, died for me and given me life.

May you know His Value placed on your life by Him, this coming week.

Many Blessings

In His Name

Alice.
