John Wright

About John Wright

John Wright is a director of ‘Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship’ and is renowned for his fearless engagement in personal evangelism. He has also produced a DVD on ‘Talking to Strangers’.

From a privileged background, he is also no stranger to the police, having served time in prison for a crime he strongly denies which got him into the Guinness book of records for the longest trial ever!

God, however had a plan and John was able to use the Holy Spirit to heal fellow prisoners and over 40 of them came to faith!

Although firmly believing he was wrongly convicted, he never harboured a grudge against the police service, and founded the stoppacoppa society - an initiative to encourage everyone to show appreciation for police officers, by stopping them in the street and telling them!

A prelude to teaching a pastorate

On Tuesday 18 October I was asked by Andrew and Maggie Colvin to speak to their HTB Pastorate about witnessing to strangers. So the Lord went before!

  1. On Sunday 16 October, as Susan and I were out walking, we met a young couple with two children. I told the young man he was a Policeman. He was – from the armed response unit. He was amazed and told me he had a Christian family praying for him. I gave my testimony and he went off with Voice.
  2. On Monday 17 October I was driving down a narrow Norfolk lane and stopped to apologise to two ladies for driving them into the ditch. I then asked if they knew what happens when we die? One lady said, ‘I am going to Heaven.’ I asked her to tell us how she met God. The other lady then prayed to receive Jesus as her Saviour and both were given Voice
  3. On Tuesday 18 October I was at the dentist at 9am. I sensed that the lady in front of me checking in at Reception was a Nurse, but could not speak to her then. In the waiting room I STUPIDLY asked what she did. She said that she had been a nurse, but could not manage the stress. I gave my testimony and said that Jesus would give her the peace she needed. She then prayed with me to be born again and went off with Voice.
  4. Later on Tuesday 18 October I was waiting for the London train at Norwich Station. I noticed a smart African lady and went up to her to say, ‘Excuse me, Madam, but you have the most elegant red shoes in Norwich today.’ I then told her that I knew someone who had said about her, ‘She has stolen my heart.’ She asked who that was and I said it was Jesus and gave her Voice. She turned out to be a Pentecostal Christian, and ordered 200 Voice on the train from FGB HQ. Praise the Lord – someone who saw the importance of Voice!

Canon Street, Winchester

On 10th September 2016 I was walking down Canon Street. I had copies of my booklet, The Road to Jerusalem, with an Introduction by the Headmaster of Winchester College, to give to any College boys I might meet on the street.

As I passed the door of an 18th century house I heard a great rattling. Keys were being turned in two locks, the door handle, a strange sort that needed to be pulled sideways, was heaved and shoved, but still the door remained closed.

I stood to watch this commotion for some time. Then I had a thought that I should open the door. So I pulled the door handle, the door flew open, and I was confronted by an astonished young couple.

Then the Word of the Lord came to me:

‘Jesus is the door to heaven. You cannot open the door by your own efforts. You need the humility to ask Him to do so, as he has just done for you today, as a sign of His grace and mercy.’

The couple, somewhat stunned, then received a copy of The Road to Jerusalem and walked with me a few yards before going in to another house.

As R. L. Stevenson said, ‘Judge not your day by the harvest reaped, but judge your day by the seeds sown.’

St Paul encourages Christians to be Ambassadors for Christ. As an example of a contemporary Ambassador,
look no further than ‘Shout it from the Housetops’! The Rt. Rev. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London

‘This is a valuable contribution to the conspiratorial silence that has taken residence in so many churches!’
The Rt. Rev. Mike Hill
Bishop of Bristol

Christians have the one thing that can change lives.
I hope that this new book by John Wright will embolden us all to ‘ Shout it from the Housetops.’
The Rt. Rev. Thomas McMahon
Bishop Emeritus of Brentwood.

This book will inspire each reader to be a witness every day. Read it! Be challenged by it! Get engaged in the message that it brings! Pastor John Partington, National Leader of AoG GB.

Railway ticket offices also provide tickets for heaven

  1. Railway ticket offices also provide tickets for heaven.

As I entered the Railway ticket office at Norwich Station I was disappointed to find there was no queue, as queues are captive audiences for the Gospel. Then, as I waited, a young Indian girl appeared behind me. I smiled and explained she was an answer to prayer, a captive audience, to hear that Jesus loved her. She was interested and took Voice with an invitation to dinner (vwd)

Meanwhile, a lady in Royal Mail uniform with a pink plastic rose in her hair  jumped the queue in front of me. I lovingly expostulated, but gallantly allowed her to take my place. (Being nice to people opens the door). I told her I was an Anglican Evangelist and that God had told me to sing love songs from Jesus to check in ladies, Royal Mail ladies, etc. So I sang, ‘And that smile that touches your nose, captures my foolish heart’ etc She was delighted and accepted VWD.

Then an unemployed young Muslim man from Iraq appeared. I welcomed him to UK and told him that the letters of ISLAM stand for I Sincerely Love All Muslims. I said that Issa (Jesus) loved him and wanted to know him. He was very touched and went off with VWD.

At last I got to Sharon to get tickets. She had been watching the musical with some amusement. I had a lovely time with her and she went off with VWD.

As I was leaving an elderly couple appeared. I told him he had won the prize for the smartest tweed coat in the station that day – it had a velvet collar. He asked for a prize!  So I gave him Voice. He said, ‘We are Papists from Aylsham,’ so I re-assured him that I preached in Catholic Churches and he was quite safe. I then got from the car The Desert Road that I presented to him with a commendation by a Catholic Bishop on the back cover!

This adventure provoked some sublime Episcopal wit:

‘You must be the only person in the universe disappointed not to find a queue!’

The Rt. Rev. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London

‘Clearly I am making an evangelistic error by ordering my rail tickets in advance rather than queuing in the ticket office!’

The Rt. Rev. Graham James, Bishop of Norwich
