Today’s exhortation – the greatest gift

In a little over three weeks, Christmas will be upon us and people all over the world will be exchanging gifts. But, the greatest gift of all is this, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John‬ ‭3:16‬). This week, I visited an elderly man and when he came to open the door, he was hobbling badly on a walking stick. As we spoke, it became apparent that he was lonely and without hope so I asked him if he believed in God and he said “no, because if there was a God He won’t allow bad things to happen.” I thought whether this man believes in God or not, it is my belief that it’s the will of God that he be healed. As the bible says, it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. (Romans 2:4)

I asked him if he would like me to pray for God to heal him and to my surprise he said yes. I knelt down and prayed for God to heal him. After praying, I asked him to have walk around to see if he was healed. He did and said his legs felt stronger than before. I prayed again and though he wasn’t completely healed, he was better than before. I pointed out to him that the God he didn’t believe in was responsible for what he was experiencing and then asked him if he would like to invite Jesus into his heart and he said yes and gave his life to The Lord. The greatest gift of all, isn’t just for Christmas, but everyday so share about Jesus today. Amen

Today’s exhortation – Take risks

After a long and brutal battle, the great French general, Napoleon, had finally conquered a highly prized Mediterranean island. He and his generals were savoring the victory, when a young officer came up and approached Napoleon. When the general asked the man what he wanted, he looked straight at Napoleon and said, “Give me this island!” All the generals began to laugh and mock the young man, until that is, Napoleon asked one of them for a pen and paper. To their utter amazement, he wrote out a deed to the island, signed it, and handed it to the bold, but lowly soldier. “How could you do that?” one of his generals asked, “What made him worthy to receive this great island?” “I gave him this island,” Napoleon replied, “because he honoured me by the magnitude of his request.”

The lowly soldier took a risk and it paid off! We’re told in the bible that Peter walked on water and even though he nearly drowned when he took his eyes off Jesus, the fact remains that he’s the only other person besides Jesus to have ever walked on water. We can stay in the boat like everyone else or step out and walk on water. If we want to see people healed, then we’ve to take risks and pray for the sick. If we want to see things we’ve never seen before, then we’ve to do things we’ve never done before!

Today’s exhortation – You can do it

There are many wonderful inventions we enjoy today that were born from the womb of perseverance. Their inventors refused to give up and overcame many failures to become successful. Today we get to enjoy the use of the common light bulb, but that invention didn’t come easy. The inventor Thomas Edison had to overcome much and if fact he was considered a master of “trial and error.” When asked about the many thousands of failures he had when trying to create the light-bulb he famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” But there is even more to it than that. As a child he was thought to be dumb and told that he would never be a success by many of his teachers, because his mind would often wander in class. Does that sound familiar?

These days, Edison is celebrated as one of the greatest inventors in history. It’s a good thing he didn’t give up or listen to all the negativity. We mustn’t be afraid to make fools of ourselves in pursuit of our dreams and visions because after all, some of yesterday’s fools are today’s heroes. A lack of success may not mean that’s not our calling, it may mean that we just have to try harder! Many will give up, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”” (2 Chronicles‬ ‭15:7‬). Amen

Today’s exhortation – Inner Treasure

Let the redeemed of The Lord say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In all things, I am more than a conqueror! I cannot be defeated, I cannot be crushed and I cannot be overcome because I have the spiritual treasure of the power of God in me. No matter what I’m going through or will go through, I will overcome!” This is not a blind statement of faith, this is who we are! How do you think that despite all that you have been through you still find strength to keep going? It’s not been by your might or power, but by The Spirit. It’s the treasure in us, The Holy Spirit who keeps us going. He is, Christ in you, the hope of glory! (Colossians 1:27).

It is written, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” (II Corinthians‬ ‭4:7-9, 16‬). “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans‬ ‭8:37‬). Hallelujah! Have a blessed week.
