Prayer Letter 29th June 2018

Hello everyone,

Many thanks for the response to last week’s prayer Letter.

Again, this week we have a request for Prayer from Sussex Police.

We have had a significant number of people jumping off Beachy Head in the past couple of weeks. It would be great to be praying for those families who have lost loved ones, as well as those members of the public who have witnessed people jumping and our own Officers, Chaplains and Coastguard Teams who have to deal with the aftermath. There is obviously a worrying trend at the moment which is drawing people to Beachy Head and it would be great for our Christian Police community to pray into breaking that draw / attraction and to also pray for the right people and resources to be in place to offer those in crisis the help and guidance they need to stop them feeling they have no option other than to commit suicide.

A few weeks ago, I attended our Prayer Meeting at HQ’s as usual. As one Officer arrived, he was very enthusiastic about showing us a video on his mobile phone of his youngest child – a young toddler. In the video she is playing with her toys at the table. In the background you can hear music. Apparently, it is her favourite song from Church, “Oh Happy Day”. In between the play with the toys and the words that she cannot sing, out comes “Happy Day” and so it goes on throughout the video. Her Dad who was showing us this video was so thrilled at his little one and her enthusiasm in singing these words. As I watched the video and heard Dad’s excitement over his little one, I was reminded as to how excited God our Heavenly Father is over us – His Children.

“The Lord your God is with you, He is a Mighty Saviour. He will take delight in you and will rejoice over you” Zep: 3.17.

No matter where you are in your Christian walk this week, you have a loving Heavenly Father who delights in you. These thoughts follow on from last week’s Prayer Letter when we thought about “Father’s Day”.

Rest in His Love this week.
