Easter

Yesterday afternoon and evening I had the great pleasure to be invited to attend the Greater London Assembly & Transport for London Easter service at City Hall, I’ve been to City Hall a few times but never for a Christian Celebration and it was a wonderful event, People of all different backgrounds, race, gender, believers and non-believers all in one place, all taking part and all loving each other as described to us in Holy orders from the Bible to “Love One another”.

I had the wonderful pleasure of hearing Rev’d Canon Les Isacc speak a word on Easter and it stirred the soul, a wonderful speaker who has a real love for life, people and God.

When I got home I wanted to know more about the man who had struck such a cord for me and I stumbled across his Easter message on the web-site www.Keepthefaith.co.uk

The post asks some wonderful questions and to take a few snipits “What does Easter mean to Christians? Love, hope, suffering, death, life, resurrection?”

It got me thinking what does Easter mean to me? as I heard yesterday its not about the eggs, the days off, the overindulgence or the Hot Cross Buns (I am partial to a Hot Cross bun and maybe a cho0clate egg I must admit) it’s about the sacrifice that Jesus made so that we can be forgiven, so we can come to God through Jesus Christ when it is our time to enter the gates of heaven, as I was told yesterday and I think of friends of mine from Policing and from the Military “You wouldn’t forget the person who jumps infront of a bullet for you, so why have you forgotten Christ?”.

God gave up his only son for us, he paid the ultimate debt and many have forgotten that, I can say I know I haven’t, I know Jesus paid a price for me, I rejoice in that fact and praise God that I am able to come to him in prayer, praise and worship and that he will protect us as his flock, he will guide us and feed us, as we know “Man cannot live of bread alone” and his wonderful word feeds us daily, gives us the strength to carry on and brings people into our lives who are able to help us and achieve his goals, I thank God for this wonderful blessing, I thank God for the people he has brought into my life, I thank God for the price that has been paid that I have been saved and I thank God for each of you reading this now, I hope it strikes a cord, I hope it lights that flame for you and I hope you have a wonderful Easter and that you will be blessed by the Holy Spirit.
