Today’s exhortation – Prophecy over yourself.

Some years ago whilst in prayer, I felt The Lord telling me to prophesy over myself. I couldn’t find any biblical basis for it so I asked The Lord if it was biblical to do that. I was drawn to look at the Psalms and it became apparent to me that some of David’s Psalms were prophetic and he did prophesy over his life. At a particular difficult time in his life and facing possible death, he declared, “I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the LORD.” Psalms‬ ‭118:17‬). He was prophesying over his life! When we prophesy to ourselves or to someone else, it is not just a case of “the power of positive thinking.” There is active power in the spoken word that transforms these things for good.

There are guidelines to prophesy, the bible says, “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.(1 Corinthians 14:3). If what you prophesy doesn’t tally with the above it may not be of The Lord. Start today by prophesying over your year – “I proclaim freedom and the favorable year of the Lord over my life. Every appointment God has destined for me will be fulfilled; goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; With long life He will satisfy me; I will live to declare the goodness of The Lord in the land of the living.” Amen
