“And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus” Luke 24:2 KJV
Over and over, the truth of Jesus Christ’s death, burial & resurrection has been told, retold and testified of. In many languages, to a plethora of creed & colour. The Good news & what wonderful news it is! There were a group of women who went to the tomb with spices prepared for Jesus’s body but when they got there, the stone, guarded heavily by two Roman Soldiers, was rolled away. Nobody was inside, no body, no Jesus! “Why are you seeking for the dead amongst the living? He (Jesus Christ) is risen!” was the statement told to the frightened group by the two Angels who came to minister to them. Something also happened, the truth of Jesus’s resurrection tells us that whilst everyone was going about their business (as it was the Sabbath) God was working behind the scene. What the women came to do, changed in an instant because Jesus changed their plans. He did something spectacular that ensured they would never be the same again. Angels ministered to them, they were witnesses, they became evangelists telling the good news “HE IS RISEN!” TRIUMPHANT & VICTORIOUSLY, FACT??. They were met with evidence of Jesus’s sure word & ran back with exceeding joy, tripping maybe, along the way but they made it back to share that awesome & mighty good news with their brethren! Jesus stood on His word of His promise, that He would rise again and He did! Death could not hold Jesus down, the mighty Warrior waged havoc behind the scenes of death & hell for you & me and He left us His legacy, a special gift for eternal life. That same gift, His Holy Spirit; The Spirit which rose Jesus from that grave, lives in us!
We have this gift, embedded in the precious gift of hope because of the power and grace on that Resurrection Day. We have a blessed hope that whatever we are going through, God is working on our issues behind the scenes, ‘behind the stones’, behind the bereavement, behind the sickness, behind the mountains of trials, behind the joy & peace & courage; God is at work & “And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We are called for His purposes. To do His will, to love, obey & forgive. We have His grace that saves & will keep us but we must come with a willing heart.
I want to invite all who reads this today, to come freely to Jesus; come back if you have walked away from His love & to stay, living daily renewed in Him because God is going to bring us out alright. He works supernaturally & spectacularly behind the scenes of our lives & the proof is, we do not need to be bound any more. We are free because The Son of God who died & rose for us, already freed us from everything that was destined to bind & enslave us. All my wrongs, all yours too; all my sins & yours too; every prodigal way we turn from Him; how we hated even the sound of His name, let alone the thought of Him; the way we love Him with condition, yet He loves us unconditionally- how we have denied Him time & again; but HE still opens His arm outstretched bidding us come; Jesus took this to The Cross, wrestled death & the sting of it, for us –that stone, was rolled away for me & you in order for us to have free access to Him.
This is what the Easter Message is about, not just today but everyday; the joy that Jesus thought us worthy to die & rise for our lives, so we can live with HIM in Eternity. I don’t know WHY HE loves me but He does. Will you now share the good news with someone? Will you tell them that there is no more ‘stone’ blocking them, that we are free because HE IS RISEN & His grace towards is never ending? When you learn & re-learn (every time I survey this love story of the crucifixion my heart breaks more, as I learn deeper, of His love for me) about this terribly brutal, indeed horrific, crucifixion which Jesus endured for us – every inch of pain; don’t let it be in vain. Just like those women who went to the tomb were never the same after what they saw, you will not be the same again when you meet Jesus & get to know Him. Now this is true love! God bless you, rejoice in Jesus name, yes, rejoice,
