Today’s exhortation – children matter
Being a child is not easy, they go through their own struggles, fears and stress like every adult. It’s been a while since some of us were kids but if we cast our minds back, we can recollect how big our problems seemed to us at the time. Passing every exam was like our very lives depended on it. We also felt that because we were kids, sometimes our opinions didn’t matter or God wasn’t as interested in our problems like our parent’s. Nothing can be further from the truth because God is very interested in children’s opinions, problems and future. When the disciples tried to stop children from approaching Jesus, He rebuked them saying, “Let the children come to Me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”” (Matthew 19:14).
God also uses children. David was a teenager when he was anointed as King. Samuel was still a boy when he became a prophet. Daniel’s friends were teenagers when they refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. They were thrown into the fire for their defiance but Jesus showed up in the fire and delivered them. We’re trying hard to be adults when God wants us to be like kids and have faith like them. Children, you are equally important to God. Jesus cares about your worries, fears and stress. Amen
