Today’s exhortation – fight for your peace
If you were walking down the road with a lot of valuables in your bag, presumably you would be vigilant and hold onto it tightly and if someone came to try and snatch it, you will give chase or shout for help to try and get your stuff back. Similarly, we’re all carrying valuables in our hearts that we must be aware of and make sure that no one steals them. Valuables like peace, patience, joy, love, faith, gentleness etc. The devil tries to steal these all the time and some of the ways he does so is for eg, we may be at peace when suddenly a thought enters our head and the peace we had a moment ago feels like it never existed or something happens to us or anxiety floods our minds. The bible says, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8). “Do not give the devil a foothold.” (Ephesians 4:27).
We must police our thoughts and actively fill our minds with positive stuff. Let’s think of all the blessings in our lives; develop an attitude of gratitude; not think painful thoughts; focus on and spend time with people who bring us joy and happiness. Focus on happy memories of good times and finally walk with an expectation and attitude that come what may, we won’t worry because all things will work together for our good. Have a blessed week. Amen
