Today’s exhortation – Be nice

“Everyone is hurting so be nice.” Those were the words The Lord spoke to me over the weekend when I was ready to express my disgust and anger at someone. I felt I was in the right and certainly they deserved to know what I thought of their actions and how I felt about it. I felt no one stands up to them so I was going to put them in their place and let them know such behaviour was unacceptable! But before I could send the message, I had this gnawing feeling at the back of my mind saying, “pray about it.” But, I was so fed up I felt I am not going to change my mind, but the feeling to pray got stronger and stronger till I succumbed and prayed.

After praying this verse came into my head, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬). Everyone is hurting, everyone has been wronged and everyone has wronged someone. No one is perfect and everyone has their own battles. Some would say, “I only get angry for a short while. I say what’s on my mind and I forget about it in a moment.” Well, let’s consider this, so does a nuclear bomb, it’s dropped for a second and it’s devastation is indescribable. Hurtful words although honest leave wounds that may last a life time so let’s be nice. God bless you. Amen
