Today’s exhortation – what are you made of ?

I believe suffering reveals a lot about a person’s character. It reveals what they are really made of. God knows what we are made of, but we don’t until we’re in the midst of adversity. We get to find out if we are full of fear or faith! We get to find out if we can practice what we preach! Adversity exposes our true nature! Do we fall apart at the first sign of trouble or do we remain calm? Do we become a completely different person when we are in trouble or do we maintain the same calmness and hope we talk about? Do we love people in return when they persecute us or do we curse them ?

When The Lord Jesus was afflicted through betrayal, torture and persecution, instead of the normal reaction of anger and hatred, He reacted with mercy and forgivenesses. He could have destroyed them with one word, but He had mercy on them. He could have let His Father deal with them but He asked that they be forgiven. The bible says, Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” … (Luke 23:34). This is who He is! The Lord is full of love, mercy, grace and forgiveness. When He was afflicted, we all got to see that He practiced what He preached. He was who He said He was. What about us? Have a blessed week.
