Today’s exhortation – encourage yourself

I’m reminded of a time David encouraged himself in The Lord when he was down. The bible says, “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” (I Samuel‬ ‭30:6‬). There comes a time when you have no one to encourage you but you. Times when people will turn on you, disappoint you, betray you, abandon you or you just get weary or tired of life. But, you can’t give up. We’ve to strengthen ourselves like David did and I picture him in his prayer closet, down on his knees, tears rolling down his face saying,

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow ‘my’ foot to be moved; He who keeps ‘me’ will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is ‘my’ keeper; The LORD is ‘my’ shade at ‘my’ right hand. The sun shall not strike ‘me’ by day, Nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve ‘me’ from all evil; He shall preserve ‘my’ soul. The LORD shall preserve ‘my’ going out and ‘my’ coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.” (Psalms‬ ‭121:1-8‬). Amen
