And so we head towards the end of the first month of 2017. I am wondering how you have fared over this time. A number of things big and small have crossed my path. I have during this time and continue to do so – recall the first week’s Bible encouragement I shared for the New Year- I Pray that as this year progresses, you will know your Heavenly Father is there for you, looking out for you (The Prodigal Son’s Dad) and constantly caring for you, (The Lord is my Shepherd).
- I believe it is right to Pray specifically for those in Senior Positions in our Forces where this PL is read. CC Giles York, CC Nick Ephgrave, Met Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe as he prepares to retire and his replacement yet to be announced.
- At an Awards’ Ceremony, which I attended last evening CC Nick Ephgrave gave us – the Volunteers in Surrey Police, huge figures of calls received, actions taken, crimes followed up – and so it went on. Such an amazing amount of work each Force undertakes. So Prayers please for these men in their positions.
- With this I would like to add former Surrey Chief Constable Lynne Owens to our Prayers. Lynne has been asked to be part of a Panel that will be preparing a short list for the future Met Commissioner; so that Lynne and others with her will be given great discernment in their choices and that the right person will be appointed for London.
My older daughter has lived in The States for 15 years. You can well imagine I have been very interested in the latest Political happenings. For the first time I chose to watch the Inauguration. I was totally taken by surprise at the amount of Bible Readings and Prayers that were said.
One such reading is a favourite of mine for the Police.
“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how. Pray especially for those in authority, to rule well, so we can go quietly about our business. This is good and pleases God”. 1 Timothy 2:1-3.
