Today’s exhortation – standing in the gap

Do you find that occasionally you think of someone and within a few minutes or hours the person calls you ? Or you may suddenly think of someone and think something might be wrong with them ? I believe it’s The Lord speaking to you and wanting you to pray for that person. Some years I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and as soon as I did, the name of a family came to mind. I had a real sense that something wasn’t right in their home. As I lay thinking about what to do, I felt an urge to pray for them so I prayed for nearly an hour till I had peace in my heart. When I called them the next day, they told me that a family friend had a medical emergency in their house and he nearly died but survived.

I realised that had I not been woken up to pray for the house, that man may not have survived. The bible tells us that God does look for people to pray for others. It says in this verse, ““I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. So I will pour out My wrath on them and consume them with My fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”” (Ezekiel‬ ‭22:30-31‬). I pray The Holy Spirit makes us sensitive to God’s call to pray for others. Amen
