Today’s exhortation – yes and amen!
Every use of God’s name in the bible is deliberate and significant. The following verse reveals this wonderful truth. It says, “And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they turned about to fight against him: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and Jehovah helped him; and God moved them to depart from him. (2 Chronicles 18:31). Note that He who helped the king was Jehovah, but He moved his enemies was God. Jehovah is the intimate name of God and He uses that name on behalf of those in a relationship with Him. But for those who have no relationship with Him, He is simply God. As Jehovah, He is approachable and near to those who love Him to protect them.
There are other covenant names of God and they reveal a defining quality about His Nature and character towards His people. Jehovah El Shaddai (God All-Powerful and All-Sufficient). Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Who Sees and Who Provides). Jehovah Shalom (The Lord our Peace). Jehovah Rohi (The Lord My Shepherd). Jehovah Tsebaioth (The Lord of Hosts). Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness). Now, all these covenants promises are yes and Amen in One Name, JESUS! “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God (II Corinthians 1:20). There’s therefore now only One Name by which we must be saved and its JESUS! Hallelujah!!
