Verse Of The Day??

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth” Exodus 20:3-4 KJV

Anything that we put above serving God is an idol. There are times when the love of even our families supersedes our love for Jesus. Let’s be totally honest. What in our lives have made us demote Him and promote “it”? Maybe it’s our jobs; our car; clothes; maybe we’ve made our homes a shrine to which we bow, instead of it being a sanctuary in which we invite Jesus in, giving Him first place? Maybe it’s our hearts and the lust of the flesh calling us to put Jesus beneath (not even a second thought perhaps) and “it” above Him? Maybe it’s the love of money that causes us to lose our First Love-Jesus  & to focus on “it”? Do we make everything and everyone a priority over Our Saviour, Christ Our King? Have we become adulterous in our serving and worship? Has idols taken the place of Our Saviour? God forbids it.

Today, let us search ourselves, really examine ourselves and our lives & see what is taking Jesus’ place. If we are in danger of, or have been doing this then let us get back to the heart of serving Him. God has commanded that not only must there be no other god BEFORE Him but neither should there be any image or resemblance of one either in Heaven or on this earth!

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent” Revelations 2:4-5 KJV

Jesus wants to be First in our lives. Seeking His kingdom first too & giving Him that rightful place, inviting Him take a seat & dine with us at the table of our hearts. Love all over Him more than you do a passionate lover, more than your only child like Abraham did when he was willing and ready, to sacrifice he & Sarah’s only son, Issac.  We must learn when we have consciously or subconsciously removed God from being First in our hearts & lives. God knows our hearts & the contents therein, lip-service nor head knowledge will do! There’s no pretending with Jesus. If we need to, change direction and reposition the things we are placing ahead of God asking Him to remove the toxins, the things we have made & are making it be about; the idols; things which are actually causing Him pain and there to be a gulf between us because at the end of it all, it’s ONLY & ALL about Jesus Christ. Is God truly first in your life? Is He your First love no one or nothing above Him?

About Samantha Alexander

I am a born again Christian and I attend The Refuge Church of The Living God, St. Mary's, Clissold Park, North London. I come from an extremely large Christian family, being one of 8 children,'sibling' to many foster children & I'm married to a gorgeous serving Officer. We share two wonderful, at times a handful?, extremely talented & sporty children. We are blessed by the laughter & joy they bring us. My role in the Met is within the Specialist Crime Directorate and I have been a Forensic Practitioner for the past 15years. I have overcome much adversity with my health & had it not been for Gods hand upon me, my faith & good support from my family & really beautiful colleagues, I would have given up long ago.
God has positioned me here for such a time as this & He has now opened this wonderful door to London Christian Police Family.
I love to laugh & encourage people around me & my joy definitely springs up when we can smile through our storms. May God ever bless you, Samantha?
