Today’s exhortation – don’t worry

I find that it’s hard not to worry sometimes and even though the bible tells us to be anxious for nothing, I can’t help it. I often make the excuse that life is hard and it’s only human to worry. The Lord pointed out to me that He’s not asking us to do the impossible. Even if it were so, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! He’s the One who gives us the strength not to worry. I remember one day I was going through a really tough time and spent the whole day pouring out my heart to God and complaining that I had fasted and prayed but nothing had changed. I even questioned if God was really there and if He could hear me. When I had exhausted myself with worry and prayer, I heard Him say to me “be anxious for nothing!” At that very moment, I felt such peace and joy in my heart and that was when I realised that the ability not to worry can only come from God.

The truth is, it’s impossible for God to ever want to do anything for us which is not for our good and that’s why The Lord Jesus wants us to be free from worry. In Matthew 6:25-34, He lists reasons why we mustn’t worry and says, “do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’… your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” (Matthew‬ ‭6:31-32‬). In other words, God’s knowing is accompanied by His desiring to meet our needs so relax dear children of God, it is well. Amen
