“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower” Psalms 18 KJV
Who is God to you? Consider everything you (& me) have been through, experienced and how we made it to see another day and ask “how did I make it?” Consider the ‘valley of Bacca’- type situations ‘the place of struggle’ we’ve been in; broken homes, maybe even marriage; problems with family children rebelling: they are struggling with life themselves at such a tender age; problems with school, college, university. Prodigals. Loss of friendship; troubles in the mind; nervous exhaustion; depression; financial valley of darkness; homelessness; alcholism; anger; betrayal; addictions; fractions in the Church; backsliding; worthlessness; anxiety & fear; isolated; sickness; death of loved ones; war daily in your country; no peace in your life. Consider the storms in your life.
Ok, not everything in your life is a struggle or battle? So consider your being well in body, mind & spirit; children are honouring their parents; good health; promotions at work & financial win-falls; new job; a house; a home; a roof over your head; family well and behaving, relationships & marriage working wonderfully, good friends & neighbours, living where there is no war in the country; being loved; The Church working harmoniously; victory when ordinarily it should’ve not been; bouts of sickness but nothing to put you on hold; children succeeding with in life; joy, being in your right mind, peace. Consider the favour of God on your life. In every area God is there, we would never get through the good or bad times without Him. Somewhere, someone is praying for us, a covering prayer over our lives & situations. The most effectual prayer is when Jesus prayed for us before the “foundation of this world” because He knew the enemy wants to “divide & sift us as wheat”. He wants to destroy our love for God; our peace, joy & happiness; indeed our lives is the enemy target! Jesus said:”The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” Jesus came for us all, to live abundantly in every area of our lives & that of our offspring. He wants none of us to be lost. BUT We have a very real enemy, an adversary, the devil. He is at war with us! The enemy comes to snatch us & our joy, from out of the safety of Gods protection. The Good Shepherd Jesus covers us no matter what we are going. God has a hedge of safety, just like a natural shepard protecting the physical sheep with an enclosure, around us. He has a shield of protection surrounding us, even in the midst of the storm. We must stay in the fold. There is a fortress around us but just like in war, enemy arrows are fired into that fortress, some may hit and wound but the Holy Spirit, The Spirit of God, is OUR shield & protector. Even when wounded, He is our Healer. We cannot make it in this life without Jesus. We may think we can but there will always be a void. Let me also say that the enemy is real. The enemy is a deceiver, a liar. The enemy is relentless! The Bible tells us “he walks to & fro the earth, seeking whom he may devour”, devour: “to consume destructively, recklessly, or wantonly” the enemy seeks to destroy us! Consider how difficult life can be when we know of Jesus because the enemy wants us to become prodigals and turn our backs on Him. Do we really know Him? Trust Him? Believe He is our Deliverer? I invite you to come to Jesus, I share the gospel with you, the good news of His salvation. I never would have made it & indeed make it without Jesus, every day I need Him & I ask Him to direct my life as I consider all I have been through or seen up to this point in my life, the good, difficult and more than bad. I often ask God “How does anyone make it without You Lord Jesus? Consider this?
