Today’s exhortation – we need the power!

“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?…” (Acts‬ ‭19:2‬) This was a question Paul asked some disciples he met in Corinth. They replied, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” (Acts‬ ‭19:2‬). Why do we need to receive The Holy Spirit after we believe in Jesus? Because it doesn’t end with believing in Jesus, there’s another level we must go if we are to be able to live and reign with Christ. We can’t live the Christian life to its fullest without the power of The Holy Spirit. It is written, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah‬ ‭4:6‬). I believe the reason why we struggle to love our neighbour as ourselves or to forgive or to break off the sinful habits is because we are trying to do it in our own might! It’s impossible!

Before The Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, He said to His disciples, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…” (Acts‬ ‭1:8‬). It’s time for the world see the children of God in action. It’s time for us to cast out demons again, to heal the sick and raise the dead. It’s time to love like Jesus did and we need His power! If you haven’t already received The Holy Spirit, ask God to baptise you. The Lord Jesus said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke‬ ‭11:13‬). Amen
