Today’s exhortation – He sees the best in us
I believe God sees the best in us even when others see the worst in us. When Jesus decided to stay in the house of a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and rich, the bible says that when the people saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”(Luke 19:7). They complained because they saw the worst in Zacchaeus who was honestly speaking a dishonest man. But, because The Lord saw the best in him, He went to stay in his house and whilst He was there, the bible says, “Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” (Luke 19:8).
The Lord says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20). It was also The Lord who said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” We’re told, So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. We see that when he received The Lord into his home, his best side came out! Receiving Jesus into his home is akin to receiving Him into our hearts and when He comes in, the best in us comes out. Amen
