Today’s exhortation – Christ bought it all
I want to start this morning’s exhortation with thanks to The Holy Spirit for giving such a deep revelation of Joseph’s story to us. When I started this life study, I didn’t realise the depth to it. I wanted to end it earlier, but I felt prompted by The Lord to carry on and I’m glad He did. I believe what The Holy Spirit wants to impress on us today that The Lord Jesus has bought and paid for some things we’re holding on to and we need not spend another minute holding on to them. In fact He’s keen to have them back now! He’s bought and paid for every stress, sickness, pain, debt, fear, worry, anxiety, shame and baggage we’re carrying. They belong to Him!
The bible says the people went to Joseph and said, “Why should we perish before your eyes—we and our land as well? Buy us and our land in exchange for food, and we with our land will be in bondage to Pharaoh. Give us seed so that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become desolate.” So Joseph bought all the land in Egypt…” (Genesis 47:19-20). Similarly, Christ has bought everything with His blood. (1 Peter 1:18). And the food Christ the bread of life gives us in exchange for all we have contains forgiveness of sins, victory, freedom, healing and peace. (Isaiah 53:3-5). Amen
