Today’s exhortation – leave the past behind

One day I was feeling ashamed and down about something I did in the past, but The Lord said to me, “leave that shame behind. I dealt with it on the cross when I was stripped naked. It is no longer your portion.” As people who have been born-again in Jesus Christ, we don’t have to let fear or our past define us. That’s baggage from the past which has no place in our present or future. After Joseph’s brothers had been presented to Pharaoh, He told Joseph to tell them to go and get their father and family and come back to Him, and then He said, “Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours.’ ” (Genesis‬ ‭45:20‬).

I believe it’s similar to God telling us now, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I Am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I Am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬). When we become born again, God forgives us all our sins and the baggage of our past is dealt with. All the shame and embarrassment we carry around from our mistakes, sins, ignorance etc are to be left behind in the past because it’s no longer who we are. The bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17). Amen
