Today’s exhortation – using our God-given gifts
I believe God has given each and everyone of us gifts just as Joseph was given the gift of interpretation of dreams. But these gifts have to be exercised and developed if we are to become good at them. Before Joseph could interpret dreams on the national stage in front of Pharaoh, he had to practice it in secret, in prison away from all the glitz and glamour. The bible tells us that when God gives us a gift, He doesn’t take it back and so that means we don’t lose our gifts. We either gave up because it was initially hard to use or we forgot how to use them. We may never even use them because of various reasons like insecurity, fear, etc but the gifts we’ve are things God has given us to bring us into our destiny. They’re keys to unlocking doors that may otherwise be shut to us.
Paul said to Timothy, “You received a gift from God when I placed my hands on you. Now I’m reminding you to fan that gift into flames. God didn’t give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7). Most of the gifts require us to act in faith, but fear of being wrong or looking foolish or laughed at prevent us from using those gifts. It’s time to unwrap the gifts and begin to use them. However, love is the key to unlocking the gifts. Love prompted Joseph to use his gifts and God wants us to use our gifts with love. Amen! Have a blessed weekend.
