Today’s exhortation – police your thoughts

Have you noticed that sometimes when you are having a peaceful day, negative thoughts enter your mind which cause you to lose the peace you were enjoying? A couple of days ago, I was enjoying a moment of wonderful peace when out of nowhere, thoughts of unpleasant events from the past filled my mind. In no time, I went from having peace of mind to having anxiety and sadness. But praise The Lord, The Holy Spirit impressed on me not to believe those thoughts as mine. He said, “don’t be love every thought that comes to mind as being your’s. The enemy put those thoughts in your head to steal your peace.”

Just because the thoughts were in the first person like “I really shouldn’t have said that” doesn’t mean they are our thoughts. The mind is a battlefield and the enemy is always attacking us there so we’ve to police our thoughts. Thank God for The Holy Spirit who exposed the enemy. Soon as I prayed, the negative thoughts disappeared and my peace was restored. The bible says, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (I Peter 5:8). So then, submit to God. Resist the Devil, and he will run away from you. (‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬) Amen
