Today’s exhortation – boundaries at work
We sometimes take on too much work and feel we are irreplaceable but no one is indispensable. We all need to have boundaries at work and learn how to share the work. If we don’t, we will burn out be of no use to anyone. Let’s take Moses as an example. His father-in-law observed that he was taking on too much work and pointed it out to him. Moses response was, “Because the people need me,” Jethro replied, “What you are doing is not good, You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone” (Exodus 18:17-18).
Even though Moses was doing good work, Jethro saw that he was going to burn himself out. Moses had allowed good work to go too far. Limits on good things keep them good. God designed every living thing to rest and to have a balance. Let’s take a leaf from Jethro’s advice and have boundaries at work. Have a blessed week. God bless you
