Today’s exhortation – depression is not our portion!
There’s no shame in having depression and if you are going through it, God is very interested in delivering you from it. The Holy Spirit tells us that The Lord Jesus came to give unto us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. (Isaiah 61:3). Mighty men in the bible like Elijah who walked with God went through depression too. The bible says that he journeyed a whole day into the wilderness to be alone and prayed that he might die. When one is depressed, they feel all alone, but we’re never alone.
The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are committed to him…” (2 Chronicles 16:9). The Lord caused him to sleep and then sent an angel to rouse him and feed him. Later on, The Lord appeared to Elijah, he said to The Lord, “I alone am left from among the prophets…” The Lord’s response was “I have reserved for myself 7000 who have not bowed their knees to Baal.” No matter what we’re going through, we’re never alone! It’s not God’s will that you take your life, He desires that you prosper in all things even as your soul prospers. It’s time to seek help and be free from this illness in Jesus name. Amen
