Today’s exhortation – I want faith

Have you ever asked God for the gift of faith? I have and from experience, things happen to me which leave me helpless. I find myself unable to turn to anyone but God. I remember when I first joined my job, I was thrown into a difficult situation to deal with no help and though it was daunting, I managed to get it done. The next time I was asked to do that job, I was more confident because I had conquered my fears the first time. I feel that sometimes, that’s what The Lord does with us. He throws into the deep end and gets us to a point where we have no option but to exercise faith. There’s nothing anyone can do to help us but God Himself.

It’s in these situations that we turn to God and depend on Him alone and say “O Lord my God, do not forsake the work of Your hands. I am depending on You and You alone. No one else can deliver me but You. I am waiting on You, I trust You and know that what You did before, You will do again because You said in Your own word, “I Am The Lord, I changeth not!” O Father, come to me speedily, I wait for You expectantly.” In these moments, we recognise that we need mercy as well as faith. Mercy for the trial not to be too hard and faith to overcome it. All of these things can be found in His Presence. The bible says, Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16). Amen
