Today’s exhortation – take me to the cross
A policeman was patrolling on night duty in a town in England when he heard a quivering sob. He saw little boy sitting in the shadows shivering on a door step, tears rolling down his cheeks. The child said “I am lost please take me home.” The policeman began naming street after street trying to help the boy remember where he lived. He named the shops and hotels in the area, but all without success. Then he remembered, in the centre of the town was a church with a large white cross towering high above the surrounding city. He pointed to it and said “do you live anywhere near that?” The boy’s face immediately brightened “yes sir, take me to the cross, I can find my way home from there.”
I too was lost once. I had known the Lord since I was 5 years old, but went so far away from Him I became lost. On New Year’s Eve 2011, I got on my knees and called to Him. I was going through depression at the time and despite having all the material things I needed, I was lost! At that moment, God reminded me that His Son had paid for all my burdens on the cross. I rededicated my life to Jesus and falling in love with Him is the best thing I have ever done. I have had tough moments since, but now I have peace and hope which I didn’t have before. I’m sharing this personal story so that whoever is lost can find their way home too. You can dump all your burdens at the cross. Amen
