Today’s exhortation – Jesus our inheritance
This is a true story, it was told by a man on TBN recently. His family emigrated to Ohio, USA in the early 1900s. The family were poor and the men mainly worked in the mines. The next generation worked in the mines as well and some became mechanics. In 1924, a man came to see his great-grandfather in Ohio and told him he had come into a fortune. He was next in line to a man who had died in Scotland leaving behind a fortune including a castle and precious stones. The executor required that his great-grandfather travel with him back to Scotland to sign the papers for the inheritance. The great grandfather refused to go saying he was old and had lived his life so he wasn’t going to get on the boat and to go back to Scotland. He turned down a fortune that would have transformed the lives of his son, grandson and great-grandchildren. The man’s son and grandson worked in a coal mine at the time. All he had to say was “yes” and generations after him would have prospered.
Like the executor, I want to tell you about an exceedingly great reward with your name on it and all you have to say is “yes” to get it. This great reward is The Lord Jesus Christ. Saying “yes” to Him and asking Him into your heart will make you an inheritor of this inheritance now and all eternity. He says, “I Am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” (Genesis 15:1). You’ll become a completely new person. You’ll know real love and experience a peace and joy you’ve never known. You’ll also get boldness to face all the challenges that life will throw at you. I know this because Jesus transformed my life.
