Today’s exhortation – you are what you eat
I want to highlight the importance of the word of God and food. Every living thing requires food else it will die! The food we eat directly affects our lives and as the saying goes, ‘you are what you eat.’ Interestingly, the thing the devil used to tempt Adam and Eve and to cause them to sin was food (apple). The devil also used food in his first temptation of The Lord Jesus. He asked Him to turn stone into bread to prove He was the Son of God. Even more interesting, the only thing The Lord Jesus commanded us to do in remembrance of Him was communion. To eat His body and to drink His blood and He used bread and wine. It’s clear that food is very important in every way physically or spiritually.
Man’s a spirit, with a soul that lives in a body. In order for us to live in our fullness, we must feed both our spirit and body. If we don’t eat, we physically become weak and if we eat the wrong kind of food we can become ill. It’s same with our spirit. When our spirit is weak, it’s unable to withstand the devil when he comes against us. We fall easily to temptation, fear, anxiety etc. That’s why the devil makes it difficult for us to read the word of God. The Lord Jesus said, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4). The word of God is food for our spirit and so as we eat breakfast, lunch or supper, let’s remember to feed our spirit too. Amen! Have a blessed weekend.
