Today’s exhortation – God Speaks
I have often said prayer is conversation with God and that means that God speaks to us as well. There are many ways The Lord speaks to us and I believe in order for us to recognise His voice, we must know His nature. One thing we can also be very certain of is that God will not contradict His word in the bible so if we hear anything contrary to the word of God or His nature then it’s not Him speaking to us. I believe He speaks to us is through our conscience, common sense or through other people. When He speaks through others we call that prophecy. There’s a guideline which lets us know it’s Him. The bible says… But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. (1 Corinthians 14:3).
Therefore if what we’re told doesn’t strengthen, encourage or comfort us it’s not The Lord! Even when He’s displeased with us about our sin, He won’t condemn us, rather He will convict us of it. I believe condemnation is the complete disapproval of sin with no hope of salvation and conviction makes one acknowledge their guilt and brings them into repentance. I also believe that it’s God’s desire is to transform us into the image of His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. In doing so, He builds us up, not tear us down. Amen
