Prayer Letter 1st July 2016

Hello Everyone,

I trust you are all well.
Many thanks for the continued support and Prayer following my eye operation. I can now read without specs and the colours are amazing. Sadly can’t drive yet, but truly thankful to the Lord for answers to your Prayers for me.
I have no items for Prayer today, but I do know that Christians are being called to Pray and Fast today, July 1st, for the happenings in our Country right now.

Below is part of an email I received from an Officer from London who reads the PL. Recently he needed to travel quite some distance to his Grandma’s Funeral; this necessitated staying in a hotel overnight. Having settled in to his room, the following happened.

I decided to read the Gideon’s Bible in the hotel – not my own – as incredibly I’d left mine at home by accident.
As I opened the front cover – I saw a hand written note on an otherwise blank spare page. It appeared to be a note offering hope to readers and recommending a few verses to encourage – I thought how lovely – perhaps this note was left for me tonight.
However, – I read it and quickly realised it was abusive and offensive! I prayed, and formed the view that I was to tear the page out. I carefully tore it out. I prayed ‘Sorry Lord for tearing your book’ and then I screwed the page up and threw it towards the part of the hotel room where the bin was – to my astonishment – without me aiming – the paper went straight in the bin – and I sensed the Lord say ‘No need to say sorry – this is why you forgot your Bible today, the note was indeed for you – for you to get rid of, so it doesn’t put off a new believer who will pick up the Bible next’ – what a privilege. Then of course I was consumed in reading the pages until it was very late – I am tired today – what a great reason to be tired!

That was such a thrilling story to read. Yes God’s Child in the right place at the right time. It led me on to think that it is a picture of Police Work; called to be in the right place at the right time to deal with horrible situations, no matter how small or completely out of control.
At this point I want to stop and again express my total gratitude to all of you who read this PL and the Force for which you work, be it Surrey, Sussex or the Met and BTP in London. A “Big Thank You”.

The verse for today is

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light upon my pathway”
Psalm 119:105

I trust that you are able to experience inner peace from reading His Word and that it is indeed a Blessing to you in your work life and family life.

God Bless you
Alice
